He/She was a strange one. I remember someone once suggesting that they thought he might be a fascist but dunno if they were on a wind up.
It was bat followed by a load of numbers if I remember right.

I only really remember bat020 because he (and it was a he, I think) used to post on the Guardian boards, which at the time I did too. I certainly don't remember him coming over as a loony either there or here. In fact, I seem to remember a few quite good posts from him. I reckon you're thinking of someone else.

I don't post much these days for two reasons. Firstly, there seems to be little genuinely new and though provoking to respond to on the boards. Secondly, there seems to be little reason to bring stuff to the boards since positions are so well entrenched that responses are overwhelmingly predictable and therefore not very enlightening.
Oh...a third reason may be that I've just become a bit of a grumpy old git whose patience has worn thinner over time.

You can't get good trolls any more. What was that US guy called who started the first huge war in Iraq/Afghainistan thread in 2001 - Oscar? Ostar? He was infuriating but also brilliant, kind of like mears if he wasn't a robot. That was what finally tempted me out of lurk-hood anyway.
