London's history

If you're interested in the history of London I recommend any of the books by Andrew Duncan. They take you on walking tours all over London. Also his book "Secret London" as well as having walks tells you about various parts of London not many people know about (underground rivers etc.) He always runs his own walking tour company, LEG (London Explorer's Group).

Another vote for The London Encyclopaedia (despite its errors).
That's recently been updated and apparently a lot of the errors have been corrected.

By the way, The Book People do the cheapest edition of The London Encyclopedia. I paid something like £12 for the new hardback recently.
Was that the latest (3rd) edition?
