Hmmm - as I understand it the animal feed is made from the by-product - the waste if you like. However, I'm not getting into another veggie v meat eaters thread :)
 
It is a by-product, of the pressing process that extracts oil (of which 100% is for human consumption) from the soy beans. however it's not 'waste' at all - it's high quality protein. I doubt that there'd be such a huge production of soya if it weren't used for animal feed though, since that's its main use.
 
Well, I have to say, that was a lot better than I expected - quite big, lots of stalls to try food at, and a few suppliers we're planning on getting veggie food from. The musicians were all well worth listening to, but unfortunately they were sharing the bill with the worst comedian in the world (I walked out).
