London Spy: new BBC2 spy thriller

The ending stretched credibility too far for me.

The lengths they went to, to stick Alex in the box and monitor his responses to the questions .... just kill him, ffs. And if it's important enough to go to those lengths with Alex, why was Danny allowed to pretty much investigate at will without suffering a similar fate?

Nicely filmed and enjoyable for the most part but seriously up its own arse.

I enjoyed the drama but the end seemed a little rushed. The parallels with the Gareth Williams story were obvious and designed to be so.

I felt that the production was written to highlight two important social issues.
The first being that there is no reason why the portrayal of homosexual sex should be any different to that of hetero sex on British television. There were only three complaints to Ofcom over the sex scenes which may serve to show that the "viewing public" is more enlightened than I would have given them credit for.
The second is that there are extra-governmental forces at work whose power and reach we cannot call to account or barely comprehend.

Well I liked the ending episode anyway. Felt it was in keeping with how we got there (though the grimacing extras were a bit distracting).

Wonder if Reno has anything to say re locations? ;) :D

Saw the last episode last night.
Overall I thought the series was very good - very good on details, excellent performances, script etc - and nice to see a proper, cynical, dark political thriller. It was all very convincing until the mc guffin reveal and the last two episodes - when i lost belief in it and it all became a bit daftly convoluted. Like others, i couldn't see why Danny was allowed to carry on without being either topped or imprisoned.
