London Organisers Network and Critical Labour Studies

presents Organise 2008! a conference organised by trade union organisers for trade union organisers

Saturday 8 November, 10-4.30pm
London Metropolitan University

With additional sessions on Friday 7 November for the Critical Labour Studies group and followed by a 'love music hate racism' social in the evening 7.30pm-11pm

Key themes for the day include
- Organising success within a context of increasing militancy and politicisation
- Unions and different organising 'models'
- Black self organisation in unions: a long history and struggle for acceptance
- Email, virtual networks and organising in cyberspace
- Can union organising regenerate labour unionism?

With in depth sessions on the organising approach from
BMA, GMB, PCS, RMT, TGWU-Unite and TSSA (more to be announced) plus sessions on organising in Germany, Denmark, Argentina and the USA. Full programme to be announced in July.

Over 30 confirmed speakers including:
Francis O'Grady, Deputy General Secretary of the TUC, Paul Novak, TUC Organising Academy and union organisers and academics from across the movement

Talking to some guy on the bus, coming down to London in the CLGA(Centre Left Grass Roots Alliance), of which Tribune is part of apparentely.

Said something about the Warwick Agreement coming up for reveiw.
Might be worth having some discussion about Casual/Agency workers, as casualisation is becoming more and more prevelent.

is their anyway to try and put this on the agenda, or have some sort of fringe meeting?:rolleyes::hmm::cool:
