A lot of colliery spoil was "born" in the north, but that hasn't stopped you trying to palm it off on London, so you can fucking well take Feltz and like it!

But London consumed a huge amount of the energy that was generated by the coal-fired power stations so you definitely own part of it. You could turn the parks into ski centres to amuse yourselves.

has been done (but now closed) at the beckton alps - former clag tip of beckton gas works. don't know how much they de-contaminated it first. i remember it in the late 70s on, and it didn't quite glow in the dark, but the ground was certainly some interesting colours...

Reminds me of the Redcar steelworks - the blast-furnace used to boil the groundwater given the heat it kicked out, and the surrounding slag heaps used to vent steam. The pools in the heaps were pretty colours due to the toxic heavy metals. :)
