London Freewheel - 21st (was 23rd in 2007!) Sep

I'm up for meeting up! It might be a bit tricky as we're coming from our northern finsbury park 'hub', we'll probably have our own northern sammiches and everything.:D But I have your number so I can always text you or something?
From the info I got sent, it looks like there's only one sandwich spot and that's in St James' Park. Though there may be more sandwiches at the departure hubs too.

I just got the email too:
Activities at the hubs will kick off at 10am, with rides to the central route happening right up until 1.30pm, so waiting for the initial crowds to die down is tipped to be a good idea.

Traffic will be stopped all along the central route from 11am - 4pm, allowing people to join in whenever and wherever they like. Entertainment and free sarnies at St James's Park from 11am. After that, join one of the escorted rides home along the central route before it opens to traffic again at 4pm

Aitch and I got our packs this morning. We're leaving from Brixton. Anyone else?
Aye (hopefully) - we should meet somehwere and somewhen.

Cool! :) We're starting at Clapham Common if anyone else is going from there. It may be impossible to find people amongst 40,000 other cyclists but we can do the texty tingaling!

I had an email from Lambeth Cyclists this morning. Apparently the Freewheel computer system has gone on meltdown. Which explains the lack of some bib 'n' bells :D

Personally I don't mind wearing a bib - as long as it's got no adverts/logo shite on!

You can have my bib.

although I have been told I need one. :o

Hmm. Looks like they're expecting us to take an hour to get from finsbury Park to St James's Park.

Sounds a bit slow?

Still, we need to be in St James's Park at 11am, to be in with any chance of those free sammidges.

I think we'll take a huge freshly baked and still- warm Yasar Halim loaf along, with some home grown tomatoes and some lumps of fine cheese and a variety of salads and condiments. We will sniff at their chorleywood factory sammidges.

Sounds like a plan in the making...

If anyone wants a bib they can have mine since it won't actually fit over my big ass head! :o :D

So, any word whether we can just turn up? I live pretty near Finsbury Park...not sure how long I want to stay, but I love cycling the London streets without any cars or buses. :)

how odd.. I thought I just posted this - I got this email today... gaijinboy got his pack but I didn't..

"Our sincere apologies for the delay in your pack arriving, the larger than expected numbers registering and the fact customs took an unusual interest in our bike bells has meant some packs have been posted later than we had planned.

All packs have now been posted - the final few were posted at 8.30am this morning (Friday Sept 21st) by 1st class mail. "

BTW - i'm collecting unwanted (after the event) bibs for gaijinboy's football team if anyone would like to freecycle theirs next week?

Why did you register then?

We got our bibs and bells.
I had to queue in the post office for them.

Han, I see what you mean about the windows. :D

I could put it over my rucksack though so i have two reflective stripes when I'm wearing it...

I had to collect mine from post office too.

is anyone going from near victoria park? is there any chance of meeting up with anyone else at any time? there was the sound of lovely bread and tomatos.........

Yes, we should all meet up in St James's Park I think, that's where we'll be eating the lovely bread and tomatoes. If we all bring a picnic thing we won't have to eat the hovis factory bread. (rich! can't anyway, he's allergic to flour improver.)

Nah, you can turn up I think. I'm going to.
I'm not so sure, you know.

We want to ensure that riders have an enjoyable, safe day of cycling, and that did mean putting a limit on the numbers that could register.

And if you haven't registered but you'd like to come along to the Freewheel Festival in St James's Park on foot, by bus or tube, please do come and join us.

To be honest, I think I might just miss this branded affair and do the Critical Mass on Friday instead.

done. Anyone else?

Han is your number still the same as it was about 2 years ago? If not, I don't have it. :D

I was thinking of heading out whatever time I wake up....could be lunchtime :o :D

Whaddabout you Bigga? What time is the Ritzy meetup?

Ed - if they're SERIOUSLY trying to discourage people to come who haven't signed up, then that defeats the whole point, surely?

Surely the more the merrier, innit?!
