" Fire and Rescue authorities attended a total of 505,600 fires or false alarms in Great Britain in 2013-14. Wore to the point that fire safety initiatives, changing demographics and changing cultural practices mean that the previous establishments and locations of stations can no longer be justified, plus of course the fact the ambulance service has taken on all the work HART does because the previous arrangements with the fire service provided one or both of poor value for money or poor patient care. ( there are also some things e.g. mass decontamination that acute hospitals have been able to do for the past 10 or so years using their own resources that historically would have needed FRS assistance )
