Local Elections 2025

Well I spoilt my ballot paper but expect my handwriting will be too hard to read :D

We had the normal 3 main parties as candidates plus reform and greens. Lib Dem run council, Tory incumbent

"The Conservatives’ director of strategy went on holiday to the Himalayas only weeks before the local elections ...

... It has been widely predicted to be a tough night for Mrs Badenoch, who admitted that the party is aiming to achieve just a “bit better” than a wipeout.

Rachel Maclean led Mrs Badenoch’s leadership campaign to replace Rishi Sunak in 2024.

I feel so left out. They cancelled our local elections because of the shuffle about of local authority soon. 🫤

Same here. I'm not that fussed, tbh. It's a lot of expense just to elect a council for a year.

At least half the district/borough councils here are a weird mixture and no overall control. The county is NOC too. Fuck knows if that will change. The electoral divisions will probably have to change when it goes unitary next year.

I predict reform and green gaining seats, Lib Dem’s doing well, cons remaining steady and Labour losing.

I wouldn't disagree with any of that. I'm positive Labour are going to take a pasting. If they manage to hang on to Runcorn, I'll be astonished.

Just watched a few mins of the bbc coverage. Even more pointless than usual as they have very few results tonight, so it's just party hacks blathering.

Same time, waking up to Reflux having a few hundred council seats will be a bit grim. Few weeks on of course we'll start hearing about their new councillors being reported for theft, bribery, domestic violence...

Labour not winning Hartlepool puts all heaven in a rage and all that, but the Tories did win the seat at a by election in 2021.
