You're right, Pennants going to be knackered from trying to navigae around Rhino - Magellan had a shorter journey ;)

Is Unsworth out of hospital yet after his big head-ache problem?

Dirk Kuyt is shit. End of.

Well he must be if he hasn't played in Spain.

His stats over the last 3 years in the Dutch league are very similar to Van Nistilroy's before he signed for Utd. If he scores half as many in England as RVN (he's costing about half what RVN cost Utd) I'll be happy.

ETA - 73 goals in 103 league games in last 3 seasons. Not the strongest league in Europe but not shit either.

Don't think so, which hopefully means we'll play Chris Armstrong at left back so we might have a fighting chance!!

Reckon Tonge'll run Liverpool raggered like last time!!

I see nothing in Kuyt that suggests he's even close to RvN's level. Kezman was always over-rated - Kuyt is better than him but nothing moer than a bit-part player IMO. The WC showed that he's simply not a top-level striker.

Huntelaar is a far better prospect.

The dutch league really is quite shit at the moment, more so than when Ruud played there. Have you watched any of it recently? Jesus wept the defending is comical at times. you;d see better positional sense down the park.

Part of that is because all the talent is leaving earlier for better clubs and other teams have cottoned on to the Ajax method of scouting.

He was played out of position at the world cup, I think he'll slot in well with bellamy and be a better target man than Crouch. I can see him getting 15-20 goals a season easy.

we should have brought him. A real classy player.

He played less than 2 games in Germany. One of those was on the left wing against Argentina. I'm not saying he's a football genius - but I don't think he is shit either.

The bottom line is that he will be behind Crouch and Bellamy in the fight for a first team place.

Well that was disapointing, really didn't get going till they scored, once we got the dodgy pen and scored we seemed to go off the boil again. 2 points lost rather than 1 point gained.

still a little rusty.
lets hope the other big three all lose today.

well, courtesy of Andy Johnson, one of them is up 1-0 at half time.

Suggestion: why doesn't that biased tosser Alan Green just get a job within his capabilities (cleaning Benites' specs) and stop pretending he isn't red shite scum through and through...

I'm just as bored as you seem to be. Most of them are probably returning from the game. I was listening to it on radio, but although the penalty was 'soft', it was a penalty. The ref said he gave it for intent. Not the best way to start the campaign, but this is how LFC like to start.

Disappointing result today but a few factors (not excuses) to bear in mind:

1.Of the starting 11 only Reina, Carra, Hypia, Riise, Gerrard and Bellamy would be first choice. I can only imagine the others were rested with the Haifa game on Tuesday in mind.

2.Riise and Carra were off injured within 35 mins.

3.Fowler has had 30 mins football in the last 3 weeks due to a knee injury. Strange choice by Rafa to play him today.

4.Blades were very up for it on the first day of the season. Early kick and live on Sky. Most teams would have struggled to win their today.

5.Liverpool and Villa were the only away teams not to lose in the Premiership today.

agreed: and the Blades were robbed anyway by that dodgy pen...

Whereas Neverton’s penalty (awarded for the ball hitting the defender on the head) was a great decision……

(sorry to be pedantic but arsenal as well. Hope Man U don't join our trio tomorrow.

6. Aries was in a bad aspect with Uranus

7. there were the wrong type of grass-blades on the pitch.

8 the cunning plan by Sheff Utd to wear striped shirts gave LFC migraine.

9 Somebody poisoned the paella in the team hotel

etc etc.

Kopites: don'tcha just love em!!

indeed: a victory for the working class! Whereas Shiver Fool getting a point was a set back :D :D

Isn't it a Liverpool rule to sometimes get dodgy results against 'shit newly promoted teams' (in the words of a scouse mate)? E.g. the 1-0 defeat to Watford a few years ago, or several to Leicester...
