you're (deliberately) behind the times--Kevin Campbell for example was a model professional & club captain: great man. And I wouldn't say the increasingly impressive Josef Yobo is pink in colour, would you?
Indeed campbell made quite a difference, just a tad later than had happened at most other 'leading' clubs.

It's getting a bit tedious to be honest. Why not sort it out like the old days and have a proper ruck on the streets? :) Or wait until 28 December!

The rivalry is mostly is just freindly banter, not much fighting, in my house my brother is a red i am a blue, my dad a blue and my mum a red.

I do believe that, not in a voilent way, that the red shite cost us millions by getting us kicked out of europe.

They say it was not there fault.

So why did 45.000 againts juve, say SORRY, for something they never did.

As a flag at villareal read.

Sorry we are twenty years late, had dispute with the neighbours.

 :)

I think these days kids just pick one or the other to support.

I began watching the blues because my mum dressed my in red as a little lad.
and i decided to go the other way, Rebel.

It started off as a Catholic/Everton Liverpool/Protestant thing, like Rangers and Celtic. I can't comment on whether that's still true or not, although mates that support Everton are all Catholics. The only Liverpool supporter I can call to mind is John Peel.

I'm not so sure about that, my uncles and aunt are all blue noses and Proddies and my mum, grandfather and other aunt are Reds. Oddly enough my grandfather was also a supporter of Glasgow Rangers (being Scottish like).

if you think arsenal have been 'absolutely dominant' at any stage of the past 8 years then we've been living in parallel universes.

I dont thats why this part of my post is here:

football rivalry in terms of good banter is IMO great fun......

but bringing godbothering crap into it is beyond me.... who gives a shit if you (stupidly) believe in the Catholic version God or the Prodistant version...... fuck religion and fuck sectarian bullshit

The rivalry between Arsenal and Spurs is nothing to do with religon and its only nasty if you're a flaming divot.... to the rest of us its simple good banter....

Its to do with that lot down the road cheating* there way into the league and treading on Spurs toes by moving from Woolwich to North London......

*cant remeber if thats true or not but I think its supposed to be

Try bringing a civil war, mass executions and getting your Nazi mates to carpet bomb market towns into it. Not to mention acusations of stealing players etc, then you've got a rivalry.

That said, it's the worst part of being a Barca fan - the whole "You must really hate Franco" on the assumption that he was a Real supporter, rather than an muderous cunt. Real are just easy targets, I dislike Espanyol just as much.

You evade the point about the playing staff (I could have mentioned more, eg Amokachi, Cadamarteri, Vaughan etc), to concentrate yet again on a moron. Yet how come the George Best remembrance was (rightly) impeccably observed by Everton fans at Goodison, yet a few (and certainly more than one) Red Shite morons ruined it at Man City's ground. Selective ignorance yet again--go back & watch your Tarby/Cilla videos why don't you?

typical

there is only one religion in liverpool, football the church's couldn't bring us together but football will .ye right
:p one god, one club one hell of a religion EVERTON.F.C.
KEEP THE FAITH1878

i have time for both Liverpool and everton fans and both the clubs. The reason being simple, they are exactly the same people - you are born in merseyside and you make a choice but you will know just as many fans of the other side.

Every other city with a rivalry worth talking about you can differentiate the supporters - in manchester, city fans tend to be moustachioed small-time dicks wheras united fans tend to be mouthy arrogant wankers. In sheffield, wednesday fans all strangely look a little like pigs etc etc etc but liverpool fans and everton fans are exactly the same people, from the same areas (excepting Norwegian scousers obv) - they just support 2 different teams.

This thread and the poster were talking about supporters, or am I mistaken?

That article was written by an everton fan who felt moved enough to speak out against it, liverpool had a problem with racism in the past - I'm not denying it - But not as recently as 2002 ffs.

so you

1) Evade yet again the point I made about players, responding to somebody talking about EFC winning the league with an all-white team, insinuating such practices are up to date.

2) Evade my point about Liverpool supporters actions within the last week being disgusting re George Best.

Priceless!

Really? Maybe you should speak to my Gooner brother and his Gooner mates.

Exactly, the racism at Everton is deeply entrenched. You don't see many Black or Asian Everton supporters do you?

1) I didn't evade your point about players, the article and this thread are talking about fans, much as you would like to pretend otherwise.

2) If some of the supporters didn't want to show respect for a wife-beating drunk-driving alkie then I can't blame them, obviously you feel differently.

I know a few Spurs fans who would disagreee with me as well and Im not calling your brother and his gooner mates FLAMING DIVOTS but.....

my (very rough) guess is that the true nature of the arsenal/spurs rivalry - IF it can ever be pinned down and fully ID'ed - is somewhere between nino and chiefie here, but that is a hopelessly rough unscientific guess.

I have to say that it's not nearly as fun as it was when Mmmshitstirrer was on here. It may have got boring at times but there were some quality insults flying around.

i'm a proddy and i've always supported everton (apart from a brief fling with stoke when i saw them on telly in the early 70's when i was just a nipper and thought they must be good to be on telly) and most of my mates supported liverpool and went to a catholic school. i was duncan mckenzie and bob latchford back then

there is bigots at every club and evertonians are black /asian /white/every creed/ colour/and that old cherry religion, yes there are not as many asians at everton and if you knew anything about our city there is not a big asian community unlike say lancashire/yorkshire/midlands/london area, but we do have a lot of asian fans(please see club web site for info on asian web pages )so before you slap a tag on us just think not every fan is a thug,
and remember if you dont go dont blow!

I never said that there was a sectarian dimension to the rivalry between Gooners and Spurs fans, but there is a violent animosity that exists between the two....and it ain't all harmless banter either.

Not many Asians and not many (I've never seen any) Blacks. I know a lot about the Pool, my grandparents used to live in L11 and I've still got family there. My association with Liverpool goes back to the early 60's. How about you?

I see lots of Blacks and Asians at Anfield...more than I've ever seen at Goodison. Why is that?

coz they are a team followed by people outside Liverpool, ie Norway, Burnley, Wales, London.

Survey taken last season of season ticket holders, at Liverpool & Everton.

results.

87% of Everton season ticket holders have a Liverpool post code.

51% of liverpool season ticket holders have a Liverpool post code.

This is why, there sre not as many blacks and asians live in Liverpool.

As the boss of the blues said when he took over the club.

WE ARE THE PEOPLES CLUB.

PLUS i am from liverpool so i think i know a little bit, not a lot. :)

PS this is Big davie H posting, logged is as Miss giggles by mistake again

So?

If that's the title you want you can have it.

:)

TBF your post is pretty much spot on... but Liverpool FC stretches well beyond the bounds of the city now.

:)

I know theres a (thankfully a minority) nasty element to it, theres no denying that but as I've said a few times previously:
