Live and let Die

Goldeneye

Evil Russian capitalists and betrayed Russian royalty. The bad guys in "The world is not enough" are a mixture of evil oil industrialists and insane anarchists.

I wasn't referring to bond I was referring to action movies in general.

Match the baddies with the decade

70s, 80s, 90s, 00s,

Communists.

Insane rich capitalist intent on world domination.

Terrorists only interested in financial gain.

Foreigner Drug Dealers (Can be from Latin America but don't necessarily have to be)

Arabic type terrorists.

interestingly, the 2nd and 3rd books, that are mostly terrible (infact, worse than Casino Royale) suppose they made them for the purposes of bandwaggoning and fitted them in, although Moonraker begs the question of why they didn't just write one from scratch, "Drax is bad m'kay" is about the only common denominator
1. I don't understand your post.

2. You think Casino Royale sucks? You think You Only Live Twice isn't the most appalling Bond tosh that Flemming wrote? You are a man of constant sorrow.

3. Yeah, Moonraker and Moonraker don't have an awful lot in common do they?

4.. I don't understand your post.

Moonraker was a Flemming novel, that bears next to no bearing on the Roger Moore Stars Wars shitstorm that was turned into a movie.

1. they are two of the earliest books in the series, but were among the last of the Fleming books to be filmed, and just happened to coincide with Blaxploitation/SciFi bandwaggon-jumping

2. Casino Royale is ace, I meant that the next two books should have been better than it but were utter gash, especially Live and Let die. not that I ever got as far as YOLT

3. Moonraker the film would have been far better if they'd made it Cold Warie and made Drax a Russian sleeper/double agent (maybe a German communist) and left most of the plot intact

4. I didn't write it very well to be true, but bandwaggoning should be a word

Bandwaggoning is an ace word and I thak you for coining it! You're mistaken about those books just happening to coincide with variousstuffsploitation though. The Spy Who Loved Me (wow - that diverges from the novel every bit as much as Moonraker!) was going to be followed by For Your Eyes Only intul they decided to slap a Star Wars derivative in there (wiki).

As it happens I quite like those two novels. Love the warehouse shoot-out in LALD. Moonraker is daft and a bit crap but plain gritty.

Fantastic bit where his really old-schoool car gets trashed (with him in it) by a giant roll of paper.

uuuummm am I being overly PC or is this Bond offering staggeringly racist?
:hmm:

Good song, though, and how can you hate sheriff J W Pepper?

And the black guy: 'In time, Solitaire, I would have brought you along'.

Referring to the deflowering of her virginity. Meanwhile, she's a zero with the tarot cards now.

I let it off because of the fucking awesome spinning bridge jump stunt that they did for real

And for me, Goldeneye is the best Bond film (including the Connery ones, which just have odd good moments).

Try The Man With The Golden Gun
Octagon, you can talk about James Bond with the big boys when you're out of short trousers :p

D'oh

Ok, in which case only the theme song redeems it.

And I stand by my statement regarding the quality of Goldeneye, I've seen all the Bond films (and read a couple of the books) and it's exactly the right balance of humour / action / viciousness.

Casino Royale (although quality) was just a Bourne film by any other name.

And the best bit of Goldfinger is the golf game.

/putting world to rights.
