Does fillums stolen from the internet then played on our projector count?

cause if not, then Die Hard 4. Which I resented paying for. Crappy 15 certificate.

no! this is all about filums seen at the flicks:)

Very late entry. We went to the ICA yesterday to watch 2 shorts about London, the first called The London Nobody Knows and the second Every day except Christmas. The first was from 1967 and was narrated by James Mason in a rather wonderful fashion, all knowing eyebrows raised and acerbic comments, as we were presented with pictures of derelict London music halls, street entertainers and markets, Sally Army hostels and much more. There was a particularly delicious segment devoted to the patrons and products of Manze's Pie and Mash shop up Chapel Street Market, and some very odd but moving imagery.

The second was from 1957 and was directed by Lindsay Anderson a few years before he did 'If'. It covers one day at Covent Garden fruit market, open all day every day except for Christmas Day, and featuring porters, sellers, customers and produce in a vaguely interesting way, although i did think that it felt a bit slow and ponderous compared to the first film. But some great characters and a proper slice of history now that the market is for tourists only, what with the fruit market down Vauxhall way now, something the narrator fails to anticipate in his closing remarks when he notes that the fruit market had endured for 300 years in Covent Garden and no matter what the future bought, certain things would always maintain.

HNY :)

i'm not there
the golden compass
darjeeling ltd
2 days in paris
control
this is england
for your consideration- was that this year?
hot fuzz

not a great tally, although three of them were brilliant films and another couple, although not brilliant, i enjoyed the fuck out of regardless.

I saw the kite runner yesterday - it was better than expected. It even toned down the melodramatic climax that was one of the flaws of the book. The scenes in pre-Russia Kabul seemed very realistic and the child acting was not bad. Compared to most of the mediocre rubbish I saw at the cinema last year it was positively enjoyable :)

2 Days in Paris was good though.
