I hope this thread hasn't been started already.

We had one last year, so now, for 2007! :)

Last night I saw: Little Red Flowers (Kan Shang Qu Hen Mei) which was about a little four year old boy who resists conformity & discipline in a strict Chinese kindergarten school. It was pretty impressive. Quite beautiful in parts too. He's convinced that the teacher is a monster... which she is, in a way.

Robert Altman's last film: Prairie Home Companion. I hated it for the first fifteen minutes, and then it really won me over. It's about Garrison Keillor's radio show, so a must if you really like radio. Also has some great performances, from Woody Harrelson, Meryl Streep, GK himself, and - surprisingly - Lindsey Lohan.

Saw 'deja vu' last night (coz apocalyto was sold out  ). A bigger load of toss i will not come across for a while...

But never mind, coz I'm going to see a pervert's guide to cinema tonight- I'm hoping it will be ever so slightly more highbrow ;)

London to Brighton last week, fucking hell, very good film, extremely gripping and great performances but harrowing  Last time i was that shaken by a film was with Nil by Mouth. Want to see Apocalypto next.

I saw London to Brighton too and Red Road, so keeping it British so far (won't last long).

Both were good, but I preferred the former.

The only problem I have with these types of British films is that other nations must watch and think, "What a shitty place to live" :(

I'll probably watch Apocalypto next also.

Pursuit of Happyness and possibly Smokin' Aces after that.

Saw Apocalypto this afternoon and saw The Last King of Scotland on Friday.

I enjoyed Apocalypto. Not sure about The Last King of Scotland as I felt pretty tired and my eyes kept closing meaning I kept missing bits :o

May try to go see it again this week, but want to see The Pursuit of Happyness first.

What did ya think? I loved it - thought Kate Winslet and Jackie Hayley were superb.

I really enjoyed it. I started a thread but it died a death :(

Jackie Hayley won an AFI award for it the other day

Night at the Museam - toss
Special - very good
Pans Labyrinth - very good
Departed - very good

Took a few days sicky after new year and spent most of it in the cinema. :)

Gotta get my arse in gear and see London to Brighton this week before it finishes at the Curzon or I will probably never see it. Also, I want to see Last King of Scotland and Babel if its out yet.

Most on downloads..

Showgirls great singing - dodgy acting look for American Idol reject Jennifer Hudson blows the others away
The good shepherd - DeNiro Damon collaboration good but a bit slow
Rocky Balboa - suprisingly OK if you like Rocky films, probably shit if you don't

Babel is excellent, saw it in NY in November, the Japanese actress Rinko (can't remember her surname) is fantastic, even Brad Pitt managed not to annoy me.

If you liked 21 grams/short cuts/amores perros you can't go wrong.

BA & I saw Belle de Jour at the NFT last night. I've been thinking about it a lot today. Great film.

I also want to see Play at some point next week. The reviews look good & the trailer tempted me lots...

Last King of Scotland. Whittaker was incredible, I could hear his voice in my head while I was driving home.

None yet dammit, lately i keep missing most of the things i actually WANT to see at the cinema and have to catch them on dvd :(

Notes on a Scandal

Thought it was excellent. But then again, with Cate Blanchett, Judy Dench, and Bill Nighy, you can't really go wrong in the acting department.

So far I've seen:

Perfume
Pan's Labyrinth

I thought Perfume was okay, but seemed overly long. I did think overall they did a good job of creating imagery that suggested smell.

Pan's Labyrinth was beautiful. Just wonderful.

Seen in this order

Blood Diamond
Casino Royale (twice)
Babel

Absolutely LOVED Casino Royale, Craig is easily the best Bond since Connery, wonderfully dark, this is how Bond should look and feel. Blood Diamond's OK, the child soldier issues are powerful and Leo was acceptable. Babel, yeah interesting.
