Lilly Allen - is she too big headed?

I really like Lily Allen - she speaks out, rocks the boat, and that in itself is enough to make her

Her music's ace too.

Opinion doesn't = Fact pk.... :D

You may think Madonna is shit, but her career/success kinda contradicts your pov

just because someone is successful doesn't make em any good.

nsync anyone....

fair play to lily for speaking her mind, but i don't particularily like either of em, so meh :D

I respect Madonna's acheivements but I think people are entitled to slag her off.....she's probably got the biggest head out of the lot.

Never really liked her since I saw "In Bed With Madonna"....didn't strike me as a particularly nice person at all.

Of course! Madonna has always loved courting controversy.

“I have the same goal I've had ever since I was a girl. I want to rule the world.”

"I want to be like Gandhi, and Martin Luther King, and John Lennon... but I want to stay alive."

"If at first you don't succeed, you're obviously not me."

other Madonna quotes

not to mention all that like a virgin stuff, the black jesus (or whatever it was), that porno she did, and of course adopting the african kid.

And she came across as a complete loon in her new documentary, whatever that was called:eek:

Allen is just like her dad, a modicum of talent hidden behind a massive ego and the constant urge to try too hard. This family really needs someone around them who isn't going to tell them every crap idea they have is brilliant. Allen senior doesn't appear to know the difference between situationism and showing off, and looks to have passed it on to his offspring.

The lyrics are contrived, her accent over-egged, and that mock-sweet little child vocal/nursery rhyme style is irritating beyond belief.
This excerpt illustrates what I mean:

"There was a little old lady, who was walkin down the road
She was struggling with bags from Tesco
There were people from the city havin lunch in the park
I believe that it's called al fresco
Then a kid came along to offer a hand

But before she had time to accept it
hits her over the head, doesn't care if she's dead
Cause he's got all her jewellery and wallet "

Firstly the song title "Ldn" is a pretty crappy "the kids all write in text speak" wink to show how fresh and street she is. Then there's the banal urban dullness and the hint that though she's a punk from the gutter she has enough nouse to understand what al fresco is. Worst though, is the attempt to jolt the listener awake by killing the rhythm and rhyme of the verse by using wallet at the end and pronouncing it in a way which doesn't fit the timbre, as used by punk bands 25 years ago.
Primary school stuff. Might as well paint a square and pronounce yourself a cubist.

Lily Allen was on This Week last night (the political programme that follows on from Question Time, hosted by Andrew brillo-pad Neil, with Dianne Abbott and Michael Portillo whose sofa flirtations amuse me).

They invited her on to talk about disaffected youth. She was okay.

She made the point that even after having had a successful couple of years with her music career, even she can't afford to buy a one-bed flat in her home city, London. So what chance do other poor kids her age have? What kind of life are they looking forward to when they're walking past an estate agents and the one-bed flats are £450k, and the kids will be thinking I'm never going to earn that kind of money.

Good point really.

I mean so many people today aspire to the 'celebrity lifestyle', but even if you are a (okay, young, relatively minor, perceived to be relatively affluent) celeb you can't afford a place... blimey, who can?

And what is there for the younger generation in London to look forward to in life? What can they hope to achieve when the odds are set so firmly against them prospering and getting a home of their own and settling down in the areas they grew up in?

She probably means she can't afford one *outright*

Dammit, neither can I and I've got a good 20 years on her... working daily, not poncing around singing songs ;)

I like her because she owns a nice dog, an English bull terrier. It was recently kidnapped (dognapped) and she had to pay to get it back. I was pleased that she got it back, it made me sm-i-i-ile

A half-bright soul turned mean and nervous from too much bitter wisdom in too few years.

Says it so much better than I ever could. She reminds me of every hard London-bird I've ever known. Not that I've met her personally of course, I'm sure she's lovely etc.
