Life on Mars (American version)

:D

Did they show the one where they all drove down South? The rednecks weren't best pleased. :D

Actually, its a toss up between that one and the one where the jet races the car that my redneck friends like the most. They had to record both and show me when I went over to their house. They thought it was funny that they almost didn't get out alive.... :D

When you watch a film or TV show set in another culture, you broaden your horizons and learn something about the world. We watch American films with Appalachian pensioners slurring through their false teeth about grits and Oreos. And we do so without demanding subtitles, or a remake set in Wolverhampton.

That's because we have been watching and learning about US culture from a young age and something you can imagine isn't true the other way round.

Oh no :( - I assumed they were going to take the procedural format but with new stories not re-hash American ones.

Mind you I also suspect it may end up just being a bigger brighter glossier version of "The Bill"!

I've just discovered from wikipedia that Bradley Walsh is also going to be in it :(

We don't exactly do great versions of their shows, either. Golden Girls/Brighton Belles, anyone?

There was also Days Like These

The British That 70's Show.

I don't think it would be quite the same if it was four guys driving around in a mini without any big fuck off guns. :p

It wouldn't be. It would be set in teh early 90s and feature four (first) Gulf War dropouts who were protestor/travellers, travelling around in a traveller van (naturally painted like the A team one).

It couldn't be set in modern day Britain as we are too surveillance obsessed these days. They would get caught in 10 seconds.
