your not that up on brain cells in general :D. I think that as long as capital (i.e. big business) is free to move around the world, decimating jobs in one region whilst they move off to somewhere with cheaper labour, then so should working people be able to migrate around the globe. Non racist immigration controls are a bit like father christmas - they don't exist. Now I suggest you take this dicussion to a different thread - you've created enough of them.....

crikey cant you see what youve just said....If capital moves then labour should follow....What a very shit arguement...So if Nike face a strike and decide to move out of a country to where they can produce cheaper your want to see workers able to move countries so they can go and work for them...
Norman Tebbit and GWB would love you.........

but he isn't saying that AT ALL. he's saying workers should be empowered to deal - individually and collectively - with the shit Capital's empowered to fling at them.

Erm, he told a tale about his unemployed father in the UK not rioting in the thirties (he forgot to mention others did), who allegedly got on his bike and looked for work (he also forgot to mention others were doing that in the 80's long before he spouted that shite). Are you now saying that workers should not be allowed to move beyond the street they were born in, because to do so would be following capital?

What an excellent point MC5....Yes! durruti wants to put a guard on every street to stop people getting in or out......Well done for spotting the danger!!!!! I mean anybody who critices Free Market Policies on Migration must be some kind of a Fascist madman....I bet durruti is throwing Immigrants into the Thames as we speak...
Once again MC...
Thanks for alerting us all to the DANGER....

the only danger we face on urban at the moment is that around 7 arseholes continuously start threads on immigration <when they're not turning other threads into discussions on immigration> and then endlessly posting on all of them; making it look as if immigration is a really hot topic on urban. Personally I think the mods should bin any new immigration threads its getting a bit stupid FFS

Its not just a hot topic on urban and the erm er magnificent seven......

Its a hot topic for people risking their lives to reach the richer countries and its a hot topic for many people in the countries they reach....
Its a hot topic for anybody with an ounce of common sense or humanity cos poorer countries are getting poorer all the time while a lucky few (Often the people they need most in those countries) leave for new opportunities in richer countries.

one of the main reason its a 'hot' topic was summed up in a little ditty I composed on the other thread <to the tune of the 'Internationale'>

Arise you petit bourgeois bastards
and edit the sun, express and mail
lets whinge about excess immigration
and attack muslims and the veil

And when we write 'sympathetically' (pass the sick bag)
about the white working class poor
the more unhinged who are amongst them
will post dogshit through other people's doors

So scumbags come rally
as the deadline we do face
but we'll target chavs tomorrow
in the circulation race

so scumbags come rally
as the deadline we do face
we'll target 'scrounger single parents' the next day
in the circulation race

My pleasure. :D

Less than 10 percent of the population were born abroad.
In 2005 there were just 25,000 asylum seekers (about 16,000 were deported).
As for immigrants? The netflow in 2005 was 185,000 - just 0.3% of the population.
So, it shouldn't be a huge undertaking for durruti.
