Actually, Oaten or Huhne would be the best bet for those who hate the Lib Dems as they would likely split the party.

My thinking is related to a realignment of politics, rather than the emotive "hate" term.

That's because the lib dems are also terrible opportunists in appearing left to the electorate to get more votes, like with their 50% tax on the rich policy. Having said that, they won't appear too left ie. 'oppose the war' but still support our troops in Iraq .

In reality they are a middle class party representing middle-class interests.

i wasnt saying the were socialist or anything. But out of the three main parties they are the most left wing.

If they are consistently left-wing then why did the orange book get written, and why would right-wingers join the party?
