take me to the feeling
For sure. Anyone who's been in the Toad's Mouth can confirm this ^^^
I loved that pub, every six months it would change the colour of its livery. Now its gone. Forever!Exactly. It used to be rough, but has changed. Telegraph Hill, Crofton Park and around Lewisham College are fine. But cross Lewisham Way and it gets a bit shitty, esp around Friendly St (crime-friendly street ?) and that horrible park. But technically that's in SE8, Deptford/St John's not Brockley/Crofton Park. The Honor Oak Estate on St Norbert Rd is the only rough bit of SE4 nowadays.Poi E said:Which gated community do you live in? Brockley is firmly in the hands of the Guardianistas.
Red Jezza said:the only good thing abouit Lewisham is it's first rate transport connections so you can leave there in a hurry.

The town planners have effectively moved Lewisham by a quarter of a mile towards Deptford and surrounded old Lewisham with dual carriageways. It's a fucking irredeemable mess.the bit round the station is a bloody shambles, bloody awful for bus passengers - no bus station and not even a shelter at some of the main stops.
the high street and market is still much as it was, though
It's unrecognisable from how it looked 10-12 years ago.
A friend sent me this last week. I saw David Essex (teenybop swoon) in Lewisham Odeon years and years ago. Assuming it's gone, but can't even work out where it would have been.

Thankyou that's a great map.yes, it was demolished in the early 1990s for the roundabout based traffic scheme, although much of the site was vacant until fairly recently.
on that picture, it's about under the 2 largest towers.
this side by side map (1950s and now) might help (what became the odeon was the gaumont then) - the row of shops including ladbrokes has been there for some time - ladbrokes is 54-56 high street, rennell street is still where it was only now wider (the north side of the road is part of the odeon site) - the photographer is stood outside what's now the police station - site was then chiesmans' department store.
