Lewisham People's Day- Saturday 14 July

actually, i know a few of the youth workers in Lewisham, and the recently retired youth leader, and they're fucking sound, and very engaged.... And it is very much led by what the kids want. Some of it is the usual token nonsense, but then those are the hoops you have to jump through to the get the funding

But any services actually designed by the poeple who will use them? IE the Kids rather than youth workers with lots of empathy and big ears?

had a great day in the end - one of the best. Lots going on, some great acts, a really lovely Cabaret area (where the Piano Bar was last year). And the calibre of acts on the stage i was running was surprisingly high, especially the african dance / drums troupe at the end.

Was no bother that we heard about - the usual crowds of kids running about excitedly at the end, but pretty much about nothing - and an old lady who fell off her chair.

Decent weather too..

i'm not at all involved so i couldn't comment, but i have seen a HUGE amount of kids involved, very enthusiastically, in a variety of schemes. More than in Lambeth, for a start - as far as i can tell.
