Lewis Hamilton racially abused in Spain

and you have of course onea qualitive assesment of every single person who lives in Barca and would be able to state that unwaveringly would you...

or would it be some jingoistic, xenophoibc bigot shite you be spouting not to disimilar to that which the thread was started about...

so why do you feel that there are people in barca who think the sun shines out of their arse?

why do you feel the need to denigrate a group of people with broad brush sterotypes in order to exert yourself and feel superior to them?

what is this deep and unfounded need for superiority over others which manifests itself in your comments?

No:rolleyes: as i moved out of the ramblas the attitude got tons friendlier and by the time i was in lloret de mar it was hunky dory thanks!!

So is this better or worse than massed chanting of 'I'd rather be a Paki than a Jew' at West Ham last season - or every season, and the equally popular 'I'd rather be a Paki than a Turk' at the England game a few years a go at Newcastle?

that would be the game in Sunderland yeah? not Newcastle.

Regards racism in Spain, i think every la liga thread in this forum covers it in quite some detail. It exists, it is going to take a long time to get rid of it. The end.

Catalans, as with everyone there are good and bad ones. But i the atmosphere in lloret de mar was better than in barcelona then i'd suggest that you went to the wrong places in central barcelona.

Indeed..Lloret is a shite hole full of some of the worst scum. Barcelona has it pretensions for sure..but no more so that London, Berlin or Paris.

The only scum i encountered at lloret were the british holiday makers on all inclusives, the spanish folk were very pleasant to me even when i puked up on the floor after having a reaction to their dodgy egg and bacon breakfast, they looked sorry for me, like i was in the wrong place:D

Cant speak for Berlin but if Hamburg is anything to go by it was amazingly friendly:)

I have no experience of racism in Spain. Here in Portugal it is not seen as racist to call someone a nigger, nor to shout or say the same sort of thing as has been reported. In fact they see no problem in calling people British Shit, Chinese Shit, whatever. Last weekend a friend said to me 'We are very tolerant, we even tolerate the Jews'. When pointed out how racist this was he was shocked that it was seen as racist, as he was with the idea that Negro and Nigger were offensive.

I accept it is a great leap to suggest that the same mentally applies to Spain, but if it does, the people doing this probably don't see that they have done anything wrong. I readily accept that that doesn't justify the racism. But it could just have been through (unacceptable) ignorance.

You seriously think that with all the initiatives in football on the world stage about racism that they have been a part of and plus football is a shared language in spain.....id say they do not come out in a rash as we may do but to say they didnt see it as wrong - well im not buying that...

I think it is just ignorance, and it was probably intended to rattle him, and, therefore, cause him to have a bad test. Remeber too that many here don't read that much in the press. I don't condone what they did, I think it is just ignorance.

Isn't all racist behaviour ignorant?

oh and i'd want the FIA to fine suspend and expell (to ensure the greatest financail discomfort, Spanish Motorsport Federation president Carlos Gracia.

Mrs Zoltan has just confirmed that the Spanish are very racist, based on when she studied out there( apologies to the the majority of Spainiards that are not )

Newcastle got racist abuse at Real mallorca/ UEFA cup IIRC

just saw Eddie Jordan speaking on News At Ten - he reckons F1 could give the Spanish the boot and it could have a knock-on effect for tourism in general.
