Lewes Bonfire Night - Places to stay

I really want to go to lewes bonfire this year, and am even going to take the next day off work for it..... but it looks like driving there is a no-no, and to be able to get the train home after I'm going to have to leave quite early.

So does anyone know of any reasonably priced places to stay the night? As I'm sure all the b&b's will hike their prices up.
We drove there a few years ago and you can park outside town fairly easily. Or get there early in the day and make a day of it!

You can park if you go up the A26, there is usually a field that charges about £5 to park for the night or try Cliffe Industrial Estate if you get there early enough.
Best bet is to take a bike down and get a hotel / B&B in Brighton then cycle with the bike train from the Level http://radiofreebrighton.org.uk/blo...to-lewes-bonfire-night-tuesday-nov-5th-530pm/ do the processions & firework displays (buy a wristband in a pub before hand so you don't have to queue to get one when you're there) then go to an after party at Zu Studios http://www.zustudios.com/ before doing a wobbly bike ride home in the early hours (its bike lane / shared footpaths most of the way to Brighton).

I'm thinking of heading to Lewes for the bonfire night stuff next week with my son (we'll both be in Brighton). Should we just see the processions and stuff, or should I try to get a ticket for one of the bonfires?

an obvious choice, but very nicely executed.

I decided to fuck it off, bit wet and horrible and I've got worked tomorrow...

Its on a saturday next year though.

Yep, I'm definately going to go again next year. Got a mad Wicker Man / Clockwork Orange vibe about it that's hard to explain. Was in pub next to (actually very amusing to watch as they were pissed and exhausted and fascinating) big group of Rangers fans of various ages, who had travelled down from Glasgow clearly simply to take part in the anti-popery aspect of things . Bizarre.

Think we may have been in the same pub :) the John Tavern (think thats what it was called). One or two were off their heads - big queue for the toilet ;)
