Let's Replay Domination

Why?

Mastering is really important. It's really really hard to get something to sound trashy and kick arse at the same time (the actual mixing is tricky too of course). Good mastering is essential, though I can see how regular punters might not understand or notice this.

Yeah, I appreciate that the mastering process makes all the difference to the finished sound, but its just... I don't know... revisiting the past isn't something I expected World Dom to do. That fantastic dirty chaotic heavy void sound is just what it is/was at that time; in the interview, he's talking about the importance of ‘the immediacy of the moment’.

-Maybe though, this album just has to be revisited and done, before any new stuff can be considered?... <wishful thinking mode>

That said, I'm certainly not going to turn my nose up at the newer version. Very keen to hear that Do Do Go Go track.

Yeah me too, just a shame it's going to wipe out my pay pall account. I wish someone would buy a couple of my records on line to fund the perchace.

Sorry fella, I'm broke. :o:D

I was looking for copies Love From Lead City this morning. Currently going for about a tenner online. I want to hear that version of Hit Me Little Children again. I had the Can't Live Without My Radio 12" once too, which was fucking ace.

Don't know what happened to mine; lost, lent, or sold*, like so many of my records over the years... :(

*Desperate times, desperate measures...

I played that not so long ago. It's a strange record. They are doing a singles b sides and everyting else CD later this year. The 12 of Radio is on the LPD cd I think.

Why doesn't Cool K do some new stuff. He can't just give up can he.

I felt quite sad seeing Loop behind the counter at rough trade.

just to say.....
I finally got my lazy ass around to digging this out for another listen and.......

FUCKING YESS!!!

that is all.

my CD turned up last night, so I had it blasting out in the kitchen.

Proper. Might give "Love From Lead City" an airing tonight also.

Occured to me that all the trebly guitar bits were a bit like Big Black also.

and it's a good way of me taunting you with this, also:

They both have a cool sound but there is definitely something different going on there between the two. Big Black has treble and effects but Dobbo is playing something out of tune that doesn't sound out of tune. The sound on LPD isn't all that full of treble either, it's quite a rounded guitar mix. I know he whacked up the treble live and maybe sound engineers took it down in the studio but there is deffo something odd going on there. It would probably make the most interesting sound on sound/tape op article I could ever dream of reading.

Maybe I should just pester him with emails like a stalker fan boy.

Got this today. Sadly not really mastered much louder than the rather quiet last CD. New (well sort of) track Do Do Go Go is great. A slightly different (better less thin) sound to the album but not so much you would notice (I have the old CD and album so can compare them easily). Nice to see every single song on there bar the love from lead city stuff.

I have just looked at a spectrum analyzer though and they wouldn't get it any louder without extra compression which though I think would have sounded better would not have been in the spirit of a remaster.

Also, another very odd little small point. They changed the cover slightly. The original pic was a colorized picture of the band with Dobson sitting in the middle at a desk. The original gave Dobsons hair a bit of a chop and made him look a bit punky but the new picture has his actual hair reinstated.
