Let's Nail It! What's The Worst Genre (A Pre-Poll Primer)

please can I have Oldskool UK 2-step Garage (or whatever that shit is that has vocals, you know Artful Dodger, Craig David shite), 'cos that really is fucking dire.

Craig David and Artful Dodger are the mainstream end of 2-Step, after it had been going for a while. they don't represent 2-Step/Garage by a long shot.

so.

your nom won't count unless you prove you know some (proper) underground 2-Step.

:p

Thrash metal. I just don't get it. It's like gabber, but with all the power and energy taken out and replaced with hair.

Can I have a sub-nomination for R&B, though? Specifically anything featuring singers trying to fit in more notes than should really fit. Sort of "R&R&B&Beeoohhooheeaaoh".

Another vote for all varients of Trance.

I'm trying to think of the name of the genre, it could come under world music but there's good stuff in there as well, stuff like afro-celt soundsystem is b*llocks.

Blimey - you're gonna need Venn diagrams to sort this one out.

there's so much effort and wailing and you end up with something so false. I hate it.

i find this with power ballads too.

they make me shudder down to my very soul.

What do you mean by underground 2-step?
I don't think it's necessary forme to demonstrate any such knowledge when trying to diss the commercial stuff!
I'm talking specifically about the crap commercial (and more precisely, vocal) end of 2-step/garage that I believe has it's own classification. Like MJ Cole, Artful Dodger, DJ Luck & MC Neat etc, Shanks and Bigfoot... All the stuff from late 98-1999 where every pop singer had to have a 2-step remix on their singles.
Being currently pretty obsessed with dubstep/grime I'm definitely not averse to a bit of 2-step or garage on principle, the stuff I'm referring to is boring shite, and sounds like sub-Mariah Cary/Craig David RnB nonsense!

But it doesn't matter cos I was sticking it to Funky house anyway ;)
If you want to send me some hot garage tips I would receive them with thanks! Always happy to hear good music :)

Tribal house doesn't either.

Has anyone used that term since 1995?

Dub - yup, Deep Forest, that's the kind of shite I'm talking about.

Can I also second 'World' music - bland, blended bollocks of the highest order that strips out all the GOOD bits of Non US/EU/Aus music, combines them with the WORST bits of US/EU/Aus music and sells it back. FFS - if music comes from the Nubuti Pygmy tribe of Papua New Guineau then call it 'Nubuti Pygmy Tribe' music, not 'World Music'.

Grrr

1) no, you can't nominate 2 things
2) world music, unfortunately, is a shitty catch-all for both populist, westernised shte, and the good stuff. they're kind of inextricable really

Another vote for r'n'b here. Fucking shitey bollocks. All of it.

I'd also say pop as in boy bands/girl bands/wanky little cunts doing shit cover versions pop.

his nom won't count because he failed to narrow it down to even 5 fucking genres
Heh!
There's just so much shite out there though :(
I want Funky House to go down.*
That's as close to a decision as I can get.
