Lets have a Strawberry Fayre thread

Afraid that having been to the last 7 SF's this comes a distant third in my things-to-do-1st-weekend-in-June list this year.

Have fun folks

I used to be involved in organising the fair in the 80s and early 90s, having first gone in the late 70s. I bet I have photos from those days around, if I were to dig :)

I would say it was different in those days, but it wasn't in any fundamental way. Numbers attending, of course, since word has now got round about it :)

I'll be there as I have been at every single one since my first strawberry fair experience 3 years ago

Hopefully there won't be so many baloons this time, they kept me awake last year

I've been hunting for some pics of the Fair from many a moon ago but have been so far unsuccessful.

I would love to see some old pics of the festie

i didn't go last year. but i went the year before. it was a bit boring. and wet. but the times i've been before that have been good. except when someone who shan't be named nicked a bong and some bottles of stella from some kids bag and nearly got everyone beaten up.

I know I have got some, but they will be in boxes and drawers scattered around the house.

But I will see what I can find and scan them in. Possibly over the weekend, if I don't get a better offer than housework for something to do!)

*is curious as how balloons could keep one awake*

But it does remind me of a few years ago when we saw one particular balloon that had been let go by some small child soar away into the sky. I was with my then girlfriend who said "Aww, that's a shame". "Don't worry" I said, gesturing to the Police helicopter hovering overhead. "That helicopter will catch it and bring it back for them, that's what it's for". "Really?" She replied.

Oh, how we laughed.

Both times I've been to SF I never once saw a single act, I got as far as the beer tent and no further :D

that was me last year... i stayed in the same place for about seven hours getting progressively drunker and higher until i was sitting there slurping cider and grinning an unshakeable grin...

SF is always on my birthday weekend, so I have an excuse ;) :D

Bump, cos da Fair (FREE! ) is little more than 3 weeks away now!

Saturday 2nd June is SOON!

Accomodation at my bro's sorted, day off Friday 1st almost sorted :p :)

Sort that weather out in time again, God! ;)

I shall decide on the day whether or not to go. As always (well, except from those times when I was involved in organising it, so had no choice!).

I've been going since 1992/93 and the only act I sat through was an elderly man with a big white beard telling stories to some kids. :D

John Rowe is the bizniz, very nice man, utter festival veteran, friendly nice company, and a great storyteller. His story about his appearance at Ipswich Crown Court over the CJA (or ws it Poll Tax? :o ) was entertaining ....

He does kids stories at times too ... :p

The fuckin hippy ;)
