Let's 'ave it then... albums of the year vote time! Voting has closed!

I AM pure sensible. No quibbling here, whatever releases of 2007 made you hot, then let me know. I'm not the fucking NME, there's no haircut or backhander qualifiers here! And let's face it, if you reckon that the repress of King Tubby meets the Phantom Shelfstacker at Woodford Tesco Express is better than anything made this year who am I to tell you otherwise. It all goes on the list!

...by all means vote for it. They won't get in...

Quite. I know for sure that most of my top ten won't get in the final Urban 20, but that's not going to stop me voting for them, and it doesn't change the fact that they're my favourite albums of this year.

Put all 60 on Shuffle and delete any tracks you skip on first hearing. Keep whittling.

right, well I've got it down to a top 60 now :(
Jesus! How have ther ebeen 60 records worth listening to this year. Why did I miss them? :(
I can call to mind maybe 10 albums from this year that made a good lasting impression :(

well it's going to mean me leaving out comps and reissues i think: there's been some amazing reissues this year, especially some reggae stuff on Auralux and Hip-O Select. New tracks, new packaging, remasters etc - so legit to include IMO, but I think i'm going to have to limit the list to new releases.

which still leaves me with 50-odd..

it's been a fucking great year. Thing is, perplexis, i listen to lots of country, rock'n'roll, american hardcore, stuff like that.. there's dozens of great albums out there from this year..

i've probably got about 200 albums from the year, the 60 is just a shortlist..

Just like 2006 I didnt buy any proper new albums this year.
bought a few 12" double packs, but thats about it.

Im sure I'm not the only one - who else cant be arsed with new album-making bands?

Anything by The Beatles. Or John Lennon.
This will have to do.

I can't be arsed with them - I don't have the patience for them - I hear two songs by an artist in a row and then I want to hear something different

How do you get the time to listen to so much music?

1hour plus journey to work and back. Sometimes at work as well. And during the lunch hours I get.

Almost never watch TV. Almost never without music on in the house.

I didn't just mean that, I mean the physical amount of time it takes to discover 60 albums in any given year that you really rate...

I just checked my playlists. Of all the music I acquired this year, only 2 albums were actually released in 2007. So I put them in order and voted.

Wow, I have now found 14 albums from this year that I think were worthwhile. There must be a few more.
