Let's all talk about the Conference

Our profligy in front of goal, and low/no goal totals in so many matches, have been our main downfall this season.

Our defence is usually strong -- don't score many, don't concede many-- and Billy Turley, our goaleeper, is usually excellent and saves our skin in quite a few games .....

It's a difficult prediction for sure ...

Mind you Oxford had a mighty 1-0 away triumph against a fairly shit Exeter side tonight

(come on grogwilton, were the Grecians any good? At all? Really?)

And this was at St James Park ... that's in Exeter, Premiershit visitors to this thread, not Newcastle! :p )

Not that I was down in the South West :o

I was in the Famous Three Kings in West Kensigtion, along with a mate who's a Cambridge fan, he was happy to go along with the occasion because their lot had last weekend had their survival in the Conference confirmed.

Twas a shit pub, but it represented the best chance EVER** (recently) of seeing Oxford live on a big screen combined with audible commentary... ;) )

**With the possible, improbable exception of WEMBLEY on Sunday May 20th .. at which time I'll be in Scotland ... incompetently but with the arrangements pre-determined ... :(

Still, so far, the Conference playoffs are starting to look good for us ... :)

Well, we didnt have many chances and didnt take the 1 or 2 we did, but then your goal wasnt exactly spectacular either. I have to say you were right about your defence, pretty solid and always pressuring. The Bank may have exagerrated, but im sure you got away with a few more handballs then we were given.

Having said that, with the only thing both of us had any control over, thats right the support, I'd say City easily won on that one. Never has the song 'you only sing when youre winning' been so accurate. :p

10,691 fans, most of them devastated, I was one!

Exeter deserved to win tonight's match** BEFORE it got to the correctly dreaded penalties :( :(

Now, I almost wish they'd have scored a third in the second half or extra time, their attacking play and greater effort and competence and team co-operation deserved it.

Oxford were lamentable, mainly :( :(

**(which I've just got back indoors from -- remind me why I almost never go to midweek home matches any more? )

What I always say after a disappointing to bad season

Football's a shit game anyway, why bother with it?

I'm off to some festivals! :D

(This mood generally lasts til about late September ... :p )

Pour vous, Monsieur Le Oxford, La Guerre c'est fini ..... :(

:) :) :)

Im going to be grinning stupidly for a week now. I don't even care if we go up, as long as we got to Wembley, its still gonna be amazing!

Morecambe v. Exeter.

Morecambe v. Exeter. :(

Pah.

Was going to go to Wembley as well if York got in the final!

I just remembered William, I think you have your fellow supporters' bad Karma to blame for not going through the other night. Our house made up an Exeter banner out of some wire, an old red sheet and some black paint we borrowed from the local. We hung it across our alley, in sight of St James Road, (the away entrance) and it got nicked by some of your lot. I was going to look for an Oxford forum to see if we could get it back, but I dont spose thats going to happen now. Still, small price to pay!

Wasn't me man, I wasn't there last Friday :D

Some of the Yellow fans are wronguns, admitted ... :o

You deserved to win on Tuesday, no question. Can't be helped eh?

Well I was kind of half expecting it anyway. The obsession with banner and scarf steals I encountered in the German leagues doesnt stop at the border. I cant see Oxford staying in the conference long, and key is that if you go up youve got the potential to stay up. Which Im not sure we or Morecambe have.
