To me, it would work as a comedy scene on the IT Crowd, with Moss as the guy who's playing trumps and totally out of his depth with a real, sexy woman.

Or maybe as a fantasy scene with the other character, the Irish one.

It made me think of the IT Crowd, and it would have been funny if they'd done it. But two American guys? Trying too hard, too serious, too lame for words.

Good call. One thing that I dislike about american "nerd" comedy is that very few actors over there are capable of convincingly perform awkward situations, and writers often overcompensate by overdoing it, and instead, characters usually come either completely clueless or smug.
