Lefty conferences in London - 27-29 June

There has been a far-left gathering fairly recently in Barking. Outnumbered the BNP as it happens.

Which is good to hear, but the challenge is turning that interests into political activities and results at the ballot box. Unfortunately it was the extreme right that came away with an assembly seat in the GLA.

There is both political activity and involvement in electoral politics by some on the left, but as you say it was the extreme right that gained a seat on the GLA.

yes, but what percentage of the attendees werre 'local people'? A rough estimate will do.

There is a local group campaigning against the BNP in Barking and Dagenham and they were involved in the protest, solidarity from other Londoners was expressed too. The BNP demo was pitiful in comparison, despite the number of councillors they have there. Takes all the time for a number of these councillors to turn up to meetings, nevermind to a rally. Opposition was mobilised and the BNP humiliated in their supposed heartland.

OK, how what was the ratio of local people to other Londoners offerning "solidarity", then?

don't bother MC5, even if you gave the name and address of every person there, and they all lived in BNP wards, failure342002 would find some excuse to say 'its all shit and a waste of time' - its what right-wing trolls do.
