Leaf blowers - am I missing something?

I have a leaf blower. I used it twice, figured that it took a lot longer than a rake and was noisy, and it's been sat in the shed for five years.

Now normally, I'd give it away on freecycle or something, but that would mean someone getting a lead blower to use. It feels slightly wrong but am I better off just throwing it in the bin? I'm sure the processing plant will recycle the parts etc.
