My contention is that the vast majority of albums in all genres and all eras have loads of self indulgent crap on them, not just 'dance' music currently. I won't deny the accusations of hyperbole though. I always overstate my case. I think dance albums are kinda missing the point.

People used to set out to make proper albums, in a pre-iPod age. Sometimes they succeeded... Few people try now, which is what LCD Soundsystem have tried to do more notable

OK, so I've persevered with this, have had both albums on the pod and been listening since this thread started...and my opinion hasn't changed. There's nothing actually new here. Aiming to make a 'proper' album isn't new, it's the kind of thing guaranteed to get lots of music journos excited; same as being a punk and electronic at the same time.

I give it either another album or year before LCDS are being roundly slagged off as deriviative by the music press.
