Loved Latitude last year. Wanted to go this year on the strength of the poetry, literary and Comedy arenas alone...

People on the official boards seem to be complaining about Franz Ferdinand, but to complain about one band is ignoring the fact that you can't like everything, and the booker for Latitude has generally good taste (considering the last two years).

I'm happy with the new additions of Grinderman, Mars Volta and The Go! Team, but i don't like Elbow and they're back again...so there you go!

Really looking forward to Sigur Ros

This all depends if i get in with a pit pass though...

Got family tickets for the 5 of us, so spending my ill-gotten 2nd/3rd job gains on some fun at last. Line-up's looking better all the time. :)

Who's actually booking the music? I keep seeing new shit added for the comedy/lit tents but I'm going for the music largely.

So far the lineups shit.

I think there's an announcement about bands playing the Introducing stage in the next week or so.

Anyway, I'm quite liking the line-up so far, with the exception of Franz Ferdinand.

Seasick Steve's second on the bill on the second stage. With respect to the man, theres something wrong there.

Why? Isn't he about to/didn't he just do a load of dates at the Royal Albert Hall or something? He was insanely popular last year at Latitude, which will be why they've rebooked him and given him a main stage slot.

The Comedy line-up's excellent, but unless the tent's MUCH bigger this year (as promised) you won't be able to get anywhere near it.

Bit of an inbalance between music/everything else atm.

Agreed. while he's second on the main stage at a UK festival, you can be sure someone of his standard is playing for free in south Austin that night in the Saxon, Continental or even Artz ribs!

i was so going to this festival this year as it's blaggable for me but it clashes with Truck and that's where my mates are ...and Lemonheads headlining is not a bad deal.

Think i read on the Latitude website that there will be big screens outside the comedy tent for the peeps that can't get in...

I didn't get anywhere near inside the tent last year till Sunday evening

British Sea Power has gone some way to easing my concerns about the lineup. Looks like they're concentrating a wee bit more on booking music now.

Because they're a vaguely tragic cabaret act these days? Much as I loved them when I was a teen, they're not really up to much now, are they?

Actually, i think your wrong. I'm not a huge Blondie fan, but i think you'll find they are still headline material. They completely rocked Lovebox as a headline act last year

However, i think it's a good call to not have them top of the bill at Latitude as it seems to be more about new and challenging music...

Are they? TBH I haven't really noticed anything they've done since the 80's (not that I really noticed then, being in playschool and that, but you know what I mean), but Debbie Harry is still a household name.

The following have confirmed or will be confirmed soon:

Julian Cope
Martha Wainwright
Malcom Middleton
Black Kids
Sebastian Tellier
