Last nights 6 feet under (spoilers and predictions)

how much does Ruth still own? I think (as stated above) Rico will be willed half of nates share.

rico's idea wasn't entirely ego driven - it was (in great probability, I havent been able to study the businesses accounts closely enough yet) a very rational decision considering where their increase in inccome had come from - the hispanic business which he had very probably brought in. David is portrayed as the great level headed businessman, but he aint really all that. The crematorium is ego fulfillment for him too.

Rico wanted to hire another hispanic employee - thereby giving him greater power - and do outreach work (FFS!) in the hispanic community. The intention was clearly to move totally to working with hispanic people, and he rejected David's idea of cremations because it would alienate hispanics. David saw the cremations business augmenting the funeral business, reasonably enough. Of course, everyone's ideas are ego-driven to some extent, but David was more concerned with improving the business as a totality rather than taking it down one exclusive route like Rico - if he wanted to do that, he could have suggested gay-only funerals and employing more gay staff, which would have been his equivalent of what Rico was proposing!

Nonsense. Rico has led to a substantial increase in business because of his name being over the door - that sounds very very likely true. In order to capitalise on that market then one needs to be aware of how that community feels about death, and responds to it. We have seen that very explicitly just a couple of episodes ago where Nate was berating Rico for over-selling to another hispanic family and tought he was ripping them off. Quite the opposite. So Rico's suggestions make excellant business sense - they are more profitable than cremations and are the core business that they already know and excel at - expanding vertically is the time when businesses are most likely to fuck up. & you know rico would be calling you an ourtrageous racist for your suggestions!

Tho, will David ever be able to get over his fears about his attacker, which seem to be turning him completely agrophobic? Maybe he'll just have to quit anyway.

Rico did know what the hispanic community wanted for their ideal funeral. But Rico is also a greedy fucker, and, when the funeral director can guide families through a cheap(er) funeral or more expensive, Rico would unquestionably go toward the expensive funeral. He also loves plumping his own tail feathers and was so slimy in that episode it made me cringe. He made it sound as though no other community would require the best for their loved one, when that simply is not the case.

Point taken Andy2002, but Nate did accept and enjoy his lot Dr Furface seems to have a similar take on Nate. I really meant though, in his story line. The beginning of this series had a little too much bitch bitch between Nate and Bren without much substance, IMO. Previous spats between them would usually end up erotic and passionate. This season, they seem to be mostly wearing dowdy!! ;)

Nate's death didn't move me at all, I just kept wondering if it was another false alarm.(Like at the beginning of the previous series)

What a wonderful episode tonight. The Brenda/Billy thing totally had me for a second.... I thought, no they cant do that/yes it makes sense.... V odd.

Poor David. The acting is amazing, and Claire made a return to form this eve too.

Ah, only one more to go.. life is cruel :(

Judging by last night's episode there's not much chance of the series ending on a ''and they all lived happily ever after'' note.

unless brenda's baby brings them all back together again! who the heck knows? daivid and keith will still be together i'm sure, but other than that.....

another great episode tho, still maintaining the edge of the seat stuff. would claire die? who will keep the baby? will the baby survice??!!

but most of all.......dear god, please brenda no!!!!! dont, dont do that, no no no no no!!!!

Me too! What a fucking amazing way to end..... I love the knowing what happened to them all.

Phew. Fuck me that was good. :(

Brenda keeps Maya. Ruth, David and Keith and the kids move in to the house. Claire stays with geek, he is whacky in his own little way and he has a dysfunctional family too. Maggies face drops off in a compassion fest. (how soggy is that woman)

Nate took a downward spiral in the last series.... the death of whatsername really fucked him up. He didnt forgive himself for not wanting her ...

But then again........ oh I am waffling for sure now, sorry. :o

Ok, so I didnt guess it all right.... Two out of four aint bad!

At least we know Claire lives til she's 102!

I thought the closing montage went too fast I couldn't really take it all in.
That artificial aging/prosthetics always looks too unreal for me so that dampened the impact for me. Nice to know what haoppens to them all though.

Sad it's all over.

I'll watch the docu tomorrow - I taped it last week but was afraid to watch it in case of spoilers.

The final sequence was the best bit of telly I've ever seen. They pulled off a difficult trick too, they had a happy ending *and* everyone died

it could never be a happy ending with Nate killed off so young though...why'd they have to do that??

What a very emotional finale indeed.. :(

Loved all Claire's anti-Bush/anti-war lines ("if the corporate warmongers decide to invade Iran and reinstate the draft promise me you will escape to Canada - I don't want you getting your head blown off to make Halliburton and Bechtel richer!" - or something along those lines...) and Billy's 'who would Jesus bomb?' t-shirt. :)

Sad to see the end of such a great show!

i wanted to spoil these 6 feet under threads for soooooo long :o

im glad the temptations gone now and everyone knows how it ended... :p

when brenda died....billy was yammering on (probably about claire ...)...it was almost like she just said ENOUGH and fell over dead.... :D

and claire marrying the republican after it was said and done was a little surprising....

hated the way Keith died :-( (he was one of my favourite characters...)

but it was the end of the finest bit of telly that ive ever seen as well :(....

Told you you'd all cry your eyes out :D

Exhausting innit.. but fucking superb.. still listening to that song several times a day.

I started watching last nights episode, but fell asleep around the time they decided to sell up. :(

Thats some serious lurking!

I love the way they showed the dead people as the living people's 'internal objects' (psychoanalytic term)

I thought it was really moving the way theat Brenda's internal Nate kept telling her that the baby was sick and would die, this was because she was angry with Nate, so he became a persecuting object. Then when Ruth told her that she knew that Nate loved her as much as he could, she was less angry with him and her internal Nate changed into a good father who was holding the baby and saying that he loved her so much.

I was crying my eyes out at that bit.

I also loved that way that the loved ones came to invite the dying ones over to the other side.

crying again just remembering it :( :)

they should have a 'moved' smiley that is smiling but crying too

the depiction on David's violent visualisations as a result of his PTSD was handled really well and really accurately, it was almost educational

Agree with everything...... I still feel sad to loose them all.... ah well. Weeds is quite good, anyone watching that? ;) :p

only just had the chance to watch it......absolutely bloody wonderful episode...so many damn tears....

i so thought willa was going to die when nate was holding her with his dad....surely something had to go wrong?

if there was a weakness, it was that - that everything went to damn well for all of them. and i think that Rico was a bit hard done by...

but tedious quibbles against a superb piece of finaleing. Fuck the Soprano's is goig to have to go some to come close to topping that - and it's the only thing that could!

Brenda's death was utterly superb - MightyAphrodite has it just right "no more!'

Claire being 102 - and the fact that at the end, there was only one (but there was one) clearly 'future technology' photograph on her wall. And she did marry that bloody Republican - so not everything was perfect I suppose.

Silly question - what music played out over the credits at the end? Is it simply the theme? I watched a downloaded copy, and bloody americans always seem to stop the recording as soon as the actual show finishes, there's no chance for that moments silence watching them, the damn thing just stops.
