Lampard and Ballack.

Players v Players - Chelsea shade this one by having some of the Premierships scummiest individuals

Fans v Fans - got to admit, United's are the worst (and I'm one of 'em :()

Owners v Owners - United's money comes from honest to goodness international brand building :(; Chelski's'money is a gift from a Russian Oligarch. Not much between 'em.

It'll have to go to penalties

utd would win pens 3-0 (again)

I hate lumplard he is shit in any team that isnt set up around him i reckon. Im also more then a bit bitter beacuse he keeps coming out with the most cuntish things about west ham.

Ballack is looking a bit more usful this season i guess but never really rated him at chelsea.

Chelsea are such a boring machine of a team.

Man united, Oh i love the way they play tis intelligent and pretty. Ferguson is probbaley the greatets manager of all time but an utter cock.

Man united fans generally piss me off more then any other set of fans with the exception of spurs and liverpool fans.

so there!

My theory on Lampard is similar that for Beckham; take enough long range shots/free kicks and the law of averages states you'll eventually score one. It doesn't mean you're that good at it though.

To be fair, Beckham seems to know what he's doing. Lampard is more from the "hit it as hard you can" school.

To be honest, I don't mind some Man Utd fans. The ones that go to the games - the real football fans, I can have a good chat about football with, I've got no problem with - well, apart from the team they support. I do sympathise with them in terms of Glazers and their fellow fans, like Revol68 etc.

so on one hand you bitch about the commercialisation, the pricing out of 'real fans' and then on the other hand dismiss those that can't afford to spunk the guts of 200 quid on a football match as not 'real fans'. Those that can afford it are no doubt all the 'prawn sandwhich brigade' and those that can't are 'plastics'. Seems like United fan's can't win either way, something driven by the bitterness of second rate rivals.

No you misunderstand.

The "proper" Man Utd fans I know, hate twats like you, hate the Glazers and have one eye firmly fixed on FC United - because of the Glazers and twats like you.

:D

And they are from the North West and not Cornwall, Surrey or some foreign country.

lol some foreign country like Ireland , a country that has given Manchester United and many many other top english clubs a whole host of talented footballers. Christ, English clubs have had Irish followings for years, not suprising since any playerof talent from these shores heads straight to the 'mainland' (yeah yeah suck it down chucks).

I don't like the Glazers much either, though I couldn't give a fuck about FC United because a) it's not Manchester United b) it's not Manchester United and c) it's based on niave understanding of what football is and has always been and the economic relations that underpin it.

Tell me though, considering the FCUM lot are opposed to giving any money to the Glazer's regime, would they regard those of us who can't afford to visit old trafford as plastics, as the enemy? I mean make up your mind, are the plastics the day trippers who spend a small fortune at Old Trafford and the Megastore or those of us who have to be content with watching them in the pub (as most of the FCUM support actually do)? Saying that if I'd the money to spare I'd take in as many 'day trips' to Old Trafford as I could.

Of course this whole argument is pathetic, it's football, it's a past time, something we do because we enjoy it, it's not a 'religion' despite the rhetoric, there is no great achievement or sacrifice in going to a match, no reason to pat yourself on the back like a smug twat.

that's actually quite an interesting point you make rev. Before the advent of the Super Sky Sunday Smackdown you would have rarely, if ever, have seen your team play. Certainly not live. Would you be able to call yourself a Man Utd fan if that was the case? If your sole experience of "supporting" them was reading about them in the paper? Or listening to the radio? Or watching highlights on MOTD? If you had NEVER seen a game from start to finish, except for maybe a Cup Final? You would have had trouble holding down a conversation with somebody who actually went to the games... Sky is the whole reason that you can support your team. Not necessarily anything wrong with that but football on the telly is a completely different pastime to actually going.

See, the thing is, a lot of football isn't actually anything to do with what goes on on the field... it's getting together with people, having a few drinks, walking to the ground, singing songs, winding up the opposition, getting a dodgy pie at halftime, moaning, cheering and all the rest of it. It's not sitting in front of a screen. It's a group activity.

Sorry to be long winded about it but you're missing out on about 75% of what football is all about.

Oh, and you also have to sit through those ridiculous poem things that Sky have started doing. You don't get those in the ground. (Actually, you might at Old Trafford.)

christ but you are a patronising prick, you think I've never been to a fucking football match? And yes tonnes of people have followed teams by the medium of radio, newspaper and a few highlights. The thing is that increasingly the pub has taken over from the ground for many people, especially since you can stand, drink and have a bite to eat for change of a twenty all in the company of your mates, instead of paying 35 quid to sit in increasinly atmosphereless grounds, this isn't just something that 'plastic' fans have noticed but something many long term season ticket holders have to, which is why there is no longer a waiting list for United season tickets. For someone on an average wage with responsibilities it must be damn near impossible to justify the amount of money spent in order to properly follow a PL team, especially with shit like Automatic Cup Schemes, as such the pub is increasingly the more attractive option.

:D which football matches did you go to rev?

whilst i'd hasten to call it 'football', Larne FC. :D

saying that the atmosphere in the pub for a PL game is better than that at a Larne match.

that may well be true... do you ever fancy making the "pilgrimage" to the "theatre of dreams"? I reckon it'd be slightly different to Larne, altho better or worse I couldn't say. ;)

At least it'd shut us lot up.

nah i never think about going to a United home game, the thought alone sounds horrendous. :p

of course i'd like to go, but my finances are in a worse state than Jan Lehman's mental health, I've had to make do with seeing them as the oppurtunity arises ie at Fratton Park. Annoyingly a friend of mine who supported Blackburn up until 6th form ( I know!!) and who changed colours like a glory hunting bastard has been to see them more times than me, he posts on here sometimes, though I'll not name him.

Honestly though this notion that going to a match is some sort of achievement baffles me, surely it's a fucking previlege, something to be enjoyed, well not unless you're a Chelsea fan then it's just a means to a 3 pointed end.
