Lambeth Housing Crisis

• No to sale of Council Housing
• No to privatisation and service cuts
• No to job cuts
• No to 17% rent rises

There are 17,000 residents on Lambeth’s Housing Waiting List and 2,000 in Temporary Accommodation... but Lambeth Council are AUCTIONING OFF council homes at rock-bottom prices, cutting jobs and giving away Council services to private companies only interested in profit.

UNISON is campaigning alongside tenants, leaseholders and community organisations to defend the interests of local residents and workers to oppose the Council’s policies. Council homes should be refurbished and used to house the homeless.

Join the PROTEST MARCH

Saturday 30th May
Assemble 11am
Lambeth Town Hall

No more sell offs!
No to rent rises, job cuts and privatisation!

I'll be there because I work in the week to pay my rent.

p.s.

I think it's supposed to be Lambeth Housing in Crisis.

Campaigning for a better service!

And I will be out in Princes Ward campaigning for the Conservative Party - the only one with a decent record on Housing in Lambeth - and - they don't sipport ALMOS!

:) :) :)

Yeah. The Tory party who built Penwith Manor when they were in charge. Nobody has a decent record on housing in Lambeth.

What's the route of the march?

Is there enough room around the Town Hall to assemble anyway, even without the fact they're digging up half the pavements round there?

You been sippin' too much port again!

Beware of The Octopus. He has given a new meaning to hands on government!

Beer is Best!
My name is John, and I am an Alcoholic!

is there a route planned for this?

I expect so. I think the Police have to be notified in advance these days.

Kanda- Stop picking fault, you clown. The Town Hall is staffed 24/7, but it's not all about that, it's about raising awareness, as you fully well know. I expect there will be one or two members of the public around Brixton on Saturday at 11am even if there's noone in the Town Hall.

ok well i shall bimble along then. :)

The march went past my house. It wasn't very attended.

(I didn't go on account of it having to make Eme breakfast for her birthday, but I'll be on the next one).

I got held up on a bus by it crossing the road. I saw probably about 30 people tops bimbling along past KFC heading towards Editor Towers.

I think we left the Town Hall too early. If a demo/march is called for 11 it can't start at 11:05, people are bound to be left behind.

Saying that, I doubt we left hundreds wondering where we'd gone.

This is the first march/demo since the first meeting organised for the 19th May (see here- http://www.urban75.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=289111) and so bearing that in mind I think the turnout was acceptable, especially as we are still raising awareness & trying to build & grow as we go forward.

Actually there were about 60 people in attendance.

Not massive but as you say respectable given we only had a week to build for it.

I was going to go but some last minute plan changing forced my hand. However, I will be getting further involved now that I no longer work for Lambeth council.
