I went along on Saturday and remained in stealth mode throughout, with the only discernible clue being the yellow PRoD bag I was carrying.

I saw OU, and I think Shippou Chan standing near him. Also waved at Editor and Eme but they missed me.

Saw some stuff (owls, eagles, sheep dogs, Iration Steppas, cakes) but took it easy and imbibed rather too much Chucklehead which gave me decidedly un-Chucklehead for the evening.

Got sunburnt, which I thought was impressive, and left just as the rain and stabbing started.

Some pics!

I had a brilliant weekend. Having entered the competition in a slight spirit of tongue in cheek, I found myself chuffed to bits that my crocheted blanket not only won first prize in its section but a best in show award for the whole handicrafts category! And I have to admit that shaking the hand of the mayor as I took my cup (I get to keep it till next year apparently) was a proud moment [/sad]. Thanks to everyone who came down to cheer. I think the mayor's exact quote was "I thought handicrafts were a quiet occupation"!

That made my weekend, but I had a lovely time anyway, and I think it was much better than last year, and generally the balance of lots of things was right - lots of interesting community stuff, all the usual jousting, owls etc, good village green, generally a very good effort by the organisers. I must admit I wasn't wowed by any of what I saw on the main stage, but at least everyone turned up.

The winning entry:

That bought a tear to my eye! I think it's past my bedtime :hmm:

Well done Ruby :)

Nice montage, Editor :) I think the rules for the second unofficial alternative vegetable competition were harder, from the looks of things :hmm:

And plaudits again to Ruby for the magnificent crochet work
