The weather forecast doesn't really look that wet at all:

Met Office website said:
Many places will have a dry day with some sunshine. The odd shower around at first and with further showers developing this afternoon, perhaps becoming heavy in places over southern areas later. Fairly warm but with a westerly breeze. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

And there's nothing much coming this way on the rainfall radar, so I think it might actually be completely dry. It's not going to be bucketing down all day anyway.

How's your boil, LC?
I think it's a cyst :hmm: Anway; it's moody.

I can't make it out, one day it seems fit to burst, the next it's subdued. Perhaps it really is affected by atmospheric conditions . . .

People have been staring a bit though - people serving me, not people across the street. More comfortable outside wearing shades.

So, if I get there at 3....

Everyone will be pissed as farts and rolling about in the mud from yesterdays rain?

Sounds like fun

I can confirm the Chucklehead stall is in place near the village green. Just went to deliver my vegetable figure, and got all excited seeing it all setting up, goats, sheep, a giant loaf etc etc

Had a really nice time having been very miserable and unwell this morning. It was wierd - we kept just missing people - Ms T. we signed a form 2 people after you and I was frantically looking around to see you. When I arrived I was really pretty down in the dumps and it obviously showed as the Samaritans Suicide Squad lady gave me a card with their number on it... :(:D

Sorry to those of you I saw and ran away from. I've got the lurgy and don't want to pass it on - but actually those I did speak to seemed to think I was worrying too much about it. I also saw a few others (eg Choc - and decided to stay at a distance.)

Anyway, tomorrow I'd really like to properly talk to people so would like to meet up - actually we want to go to the GRAND PRIZE PRESENTATION MIDDAY IN THE FLOWER TENT to cheer on a certain prize-winning urb who I hope will be blowing her own trumpet on here!

One sad thing was that as we just left a few moments ago, the police had cordoned off an area up by the main arena directly in front of one of those giant slides where a stabbing had taken place. :(

Also, (obviously not as sad) - I didn't like the new layout and it seemed to me like there are LOADS less stalls this year. I suppose this is not surprising though.

We all saw the lads roving around looking for someone. So I guess that was what it was all about and they found him and stabbed him. What a shame :(

Otherwise it was a lovely afternoon. Sorry _PH_ for talking too much, but I swear I wasn't as drunk as you think...and thank you Shippou for all the cider. :)

You? Drunk? Surely not! Nah, it was lovely talking to you :)

Come again tomorrow so you can pay for me to go on the dodgems again. Purely for entertaining small children of course :)

I loved it. Grabbed pics of both Alternative Vegetable competitions and the official entries too. Top stuff all round!

Off to the Albert now to set up for the after party!

we had a great day too.

-sorry to hear about stabbings - i have to say those kid gangs are very very unkind looking there are at least about 30-40 of them in one "beehive". and there were a few of them as well on my way out there was also something going on at herne hill end. they really try so hard to looks so dangerous -and tbh they succeed in that -one huge crowd came into herne hill when i unlocked my bike and i just thought i wouldn't want to meet such a large amount of teenage boys in the middle of the night -it s unreal and feels very antisocial behaviour too !

i have also been avoiding the crowds as i am having an awful sore throat combined with tiredness i have even left early today.

Heck pals of mine said they saw gangs of youf...wonder was that connected to shooing at Hoot..........this makes me want to take playbhoy and playbhaby far far away............

Yeah - we saw some big gangs of kids. At one point there must have been about 100 of them all running en-masse. My first instinct was that they were on the nick steaming - but tbh - they didn't seem to be doing anything wrong at all. But it was wierd. Gaijinboy saw a big group (the same) earlier. They could have been doing nothing at all - but it was a big enough a group to be intimidating.

:cool::D

I like the Michael Jackson potato one :)

You really should come along. I think you'd enjoy yourself. No wellies necessary! It's a very short walk from where you are and if you hate it (and who could hate watching sheepdogs herding ducks down slides or potatoes that look like Michael Jackson... :D) you can turn around and go right back home! Honestly, you've posted some real downhearted posts recently and it might just lift your spirits a little.

Yeah. Come along, AJ.

That said I have a bit of a lurgy so not sure whether I'm going.

Gaijingirl, I'm sure I've been at plenty of urban things at the same time as you but I have no idea who you are. I don't think we've been introduced.

We were at the Brixton walk together eating mince pies and drinking mulled wine under the old tree on Josephine Avenue.

I also have the lurgy and was downright miserable yesterday but the fresh air, animals and general atmosphere really cheered me up. I feel a little better today and reckon another hit of Country Show goodness might be just the tonic!

Usefully they don't show a map as to where it is on the website. It's a big park so whatever end I choose I'd be at the wrong end.

Plus, I don't know what any of you look like so whatever "meet up" places were organised I wouldn't find you.

After yesterday's stabbing and mobs of "feral chavs wandering round" reports I'm not terribly keen to encounter either.

Anyways, I'd probably spoil the day for the rest of you.

The only thing I can think of that looks like that in vegetable form is the skin of an aubergine.

The stabbers and stabbees weren't bothering anyone else as far as I could tell.

The fair is on the East side of the park. There are two music stages, a large one near the LIDO, and a smaller one near the circle of trees. The urbanites were all around the the smaller stage.
