Ladies, how much do you spend on being a woman?

I had to buy facial hair removal cream from Boots yesterday :o:( The plucking just ain't cutting it. They're fair but v v v long. I hate chemicals like that on my face but I'm not fit to join the freak show yet.

Not a lot. I've never been to a hairdresser, can't be arsed with clothes shopping, don't wear make-up

Keep wasting money on moisturisers though that don't seem to work :(

Haircut - nothing. GF does it. I buy discounted hair dye, so maybe £2.50 every couple of months (actually, every six months is probably more like it - I lose track).

Make-up - couple of quid a month perhaps, when the concealer eventually runs out, or the annual replacement of the nail varnish bottle

Moisturiser - tenner a year maybe. I have, in fact, never ever bought body moisturiser; the free samples of baby lotion I got from various places lasted me for five YEARS after my daughter was born, and then I get lots of those body lotion/shower gel sets as gifts from people who don't know what to buy me (I'm difficult to buy for) but know that I do have skin.

Periods - nothing any more. Mooncup.

Hair removal - about £2 p.a. for a razor. I have an epilator, but I've lost it. I pluck eyebrows and so on.

Clothes - with shoes and underwear it probably adds up to a tenner a month.

<~~Not high maintenance, but quite femme.

I have a friend who spends £40pw on the hairdresser, excluding cut and colour. She has her hair washed and blow-dried there. So I guess she must spend at least another couple of hundred a month on the other parts of hairdressing - it all adds up to more than my rent!

a lot (for me) these days. charity shops don't do decent clothes in a size 14, so i've stopped shopping there which has hugely increased my clothes/shoes/underwear bill to £40/month or so.

make-up - a rare event, probably £10 a year.

haircuts - never, though i am sick of my long hair and am getting it cut off this week. it's been 2 years since i set foot in a hairdresser so i dunno how much it'll cost me. probably a fortune :(

perfume - don't bother with it any more. i have nearly full bottles in the cupboard dating from 1996 :o

toiletries - £5 a month i think. boots own brand shampoo/conditioner, dove soap, razors from lidl :D i have a weakness for brightly coloured nail polish on my toes though

£10 a month on clothes and shoes! That's practically nothing.

I very rarely buy clothes, and, when I do, they're cheap. I buy shoes once a year - to replace the work shoes, sandals or trainers which have worn out (they usually last about three years). Of course, I have to buy socks and stuff now and then.

If I had more money, though, I'd spend a lot more on clothes.

too much fucking money, I once got told I appear to never do any washing, just buy new clothes :o

I can't say exactly how much I spend cus the other half might see it and I'd get a talking to  :D

Hair cut used to be £55 every 4/6 weeks but my daughter does it now.
I dont have periods anymore so nothing on products for that.
Make up... £7 for tinted moisturiser £8 lipgloss and £6 mascara every couple of months.
Bath/shower products...£20 pm average
Clothes/shoes/undies...spent about £600 last month but it varies and i did need alot of retail therapy last month.
Wax £35 every 6/8 weeks.

prolly about 50-60 quid on average.

More when I buy make-up which isn't monthly.

Oh I probably buy a pair of shoes each month but that price varies :o

Hmmm, haircut every two months, about £38.

Facials/massage-type things - about £40 every three or four months.

Hair removal - get this Razera 'razor-free' stuff for about £6 every two months or so, less in winter, for my lower legs, as neither my beloved nor I are hugely bothered about it.

Get cheap razors and foam to do my armpits, but that lasts for ages (can't use the Razera stuff there)

Bath stuff - dunno. I'm a whore for trying new products, and I buy a variation of cheap and pricey stuff. At any given time I have one cheap body lotion (a few quid) like Palmers cocoa butter, and one pricey one like Kiehls (£30). Both last me about two months.

If I compare my spends to what the boy does...

Hair cuts - about £70 per year more than him
Hair dye - about £40 per year
Conditioner - about £60 year (blimey! - that adds up, and I don't use really expensive stuff...)

Sanitary towels etc - £70 year
Deodorant - £0 I get a particular brand brought back as presents from America by family etc. - Monkeygrinde buys his own, so actually I spend less than him on that - woot!

Makeup - £100 per year (just under a tenner a month - 1 mascara or eyeliner or a couple of cheap bits.)
Makeup wipes - £20 per year

Moisturisers etc - £0. I get given lots of body lotion, for some reason - and I tend not to use much, and I only moisturise my face sporadically.:o
Cleanser etc - £20 per year
Other bits (face masks) - £15 per year

Clothes / Shoes - I reckon maybe £200 more than the boy a year.
Bras - £75 year

Total = £670 p/a, or just over £55 a month - I could spend less on clothes, though (for that matter, so could he).

2 hair cuts a year at £45 each.
Max £50 worth of clothes a year.
Average £25 for shoes. Nothing most years but that's my swears for 5 years or so and the odd flip flop.
Make up remover and moisturiser etc are presents from people going through duty free.
Make up is probably £25 a year. I've got such a large stash that it's only the odd replacement.
Mooncup so £0 on period crap. Possibly evening primrose oil should be included here and my skunk bill and other painkillers plus wine and doughnuts...

Is that it? Oh shaving is almost £0. I shave and change razor so infrequently it doesn't count. Deodorant and shower gel are shared and from the poundshop.

That's not too bad.

Ha, actually put that way it costs me less to be a woman than it costs Mr Beeboo to be a man, as he far outstrips my expenditure when you factor in clothes and shoes.

It's a miracle !

Isn’t it something that all the women in London and beyond who spend the least on self-maintenance all post on Urban !!

And not even so much as an impulse purchase between you. I’m veh impressed, ladies. Martyr's, martyr's I say !

Maybe some of us are even including impulse purchases. :)

What do you mean -as in the scent?

I buy that.

I also do impulse buying - especially of handbags! (3 last month :o )

I know the game ladies, there's the planned, sensible spending, and then there's the rest.

It hardly counts of course, if at all. It was such a good price you had to have it and, besides, you haven't treated yourself in ages, not least because the treat last time didn't count either . . . . :D

For some reason I am really tight about haircuts and can't bear to pay over £30 every 6 months. Also dye my own hair so bargain cheap there.

There's alot of mooncup talk on this thread, should I check this out then? Have been menstruating since 5 years old and think I have spent enough money on sanitary protection by now.

I am also a lover of really super indulgent scents. Jo Malone, Annick Goutal etc. The perfume bit of Liberty's has been known to make me hot under the collar.

I'd include impulse purchases if I made any, and I'd make some if I had the money to do so. Really, I'm not frugal or careful or anything like that - just broke! Bet it's the same for some of the others on here. But these boards are also full of hippy types who are less likely to care much about clothes and make-up and more likely to use Mooncups.

(No apostrophe required for us martyrs, though. ;))

Shampoo and conditioner - £8 for both, lasts a fortnight
leave in conditioner - £4 lasts a month
Palmer body butter - £2.99 lasts a fortnight
Makeup - full set (basics) £100 lasts six months
haircut - £60 lasts six months
perfume £40 lasts six months
deodorant - £2 per month
nails (manicures, pedicures general upkeep rubbish) £20 per month
lush facial, face pack stuff habbit - £20 per month
tampax - £3 per month - need to look into mooncups

Around 30 - 40 quid for everything, once a month: makeup, baby oils, lotions, etc. I'm easy with posh shower gels and that - sometimes i buy kinda posh ones but not bothered.

I never buy clothes or shoes as i spend all my money on going out. My mam buys me clothes sometimes and she has great taste - i just wear black with little scarves and a black leather jacket everywhere. I actually have a pretty good wardrobe from over the years with a few vintage tops that i mix with black skirts and trousers. I could do with more trousers though!

the odd time, around once a year, i might spend around 100 quid on a jacket or somethin. i buy little rings and costume jewellry, yves saint laurent products in the duty free, my mates cut my hair or i might get a haircut for a tennor, or a peter mark job with one of the students for 25 quid :)
