Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Jess

Took "madam" to the vet this weekend for a check over, a weigh and a 'roid and Vit shot.

She had the injections and the vet checked her over, she's still pretty full of life but her weight is now down to 2.2kg :eek::eek:

She's not got any more "meat" to loose now. But the vet is of the opinion, as are we, that as long as she seems happy and content then the little bit of food and water (and milk) that she's getting down could keep her going for a goodly while yet.

She had her tummy generally messed about with by the Vet, with no complaints, so she's not in pain (thank goodness).

We've got some foil trays of convalescence food, which is high protein yet easy to digest (and, as with all things Jess, expensive :( ) which she seemed to enjoy tucking into on Sunday evening. The injections are seeming to be perking her appetite up a fair bit.

And then, just when you think that she's starting a bit of a slow decline and get yourself ready, up she comes, bright as a button at about 5.00A(bloody)M for a cuddle and a general fuss and just gets herself nicely settled about 1 minute before the alarm went off at 5.30.

Awww the op had me in bits, it is lovely to know that other people love their pets so dearly and are as attached as I am and have been in the past. I still often have dreams about my mums dog who was my dear friend from the age of 11 to 27. In my dream I am just giving her a fuss and then I realise that she isn't with us anymore so I make the most of it. She was the most faithful dog I have ever had, she would often follow my scent to a friends house and when I left I would find her waiting outside for me come rain or shine. When I was a teenager she used to cwtch up with me when I was sad and I would talk to her lol. When I was hurt she would always know and come and lick my hand and look at me lovingly. Any time someone would raise a voice to me she would be by my side and would start to bark at them if they came closer :D
All pets are special but now and again you meet one that you have a real connection with and they seem to be almost human in their intelligence and empathy.
Enjoy the rest of your time together :) I am so glad you have an understanding vet who is in no rush to put her to sleep x

J B effing H Christ :mad::mad:

Now she won't eat the expensive, back from the Brink vets food but was hanging out for MY BLOODY CHICKEN!!!

Which if course, I gave her a bit :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Jess was put to sleep this morning.

She was not in pain, but was very very weak.

We're both going to miss her terribly.

Oh I'm so sorry HV :( You must be in pieces.

(((((HV)))))

This thread is a testament to your love for her, and her strong will to spend a little more time enjoying your care and love and company. Be proud of that. xx
