Lad wanted to blow up BNP...

With such self-confidence in your all-seeing knowledge, are you the Messiah?

As said we'll just go around in circles. But if you seriously think that if the case had been exactly the same but it had been a muslim stock piling bomb materials in case the UK attacked Syria and he still would have got only two and a half years then you're in cloud cuckoo land.

Was there? Please link to the source for that assertion.

Well he claimed that he was stock piling bomb materials in case there was a race war. That is intent is it not? i.e. at some point in the future, under certain conditions, he would have set the bombs off.

he claimed to be making thunder flashes to defend his property rather than nail and pipe bombs to attack other sites with
why he didn't just buy some there still llegal to own

I'm sure he did say that but:

When questioned, Mr Cottage told police it was a coincidence that he had bought a batch of chemicals just days after printing off recipes for explosive devices from the internet.

He told the court on Friday that he could not explain why detailed instructions for making a Molotov cocktail, a pipe hand grenade and dynamite were in his possession.

Well if that's not intent then the law seems very strange in that regard. And I'd say again:

If a muslim had stockpiled explosives and said I'm gonna start blowing up people if the UK invades Syria do you think he'd only be given a light sentence on the basis that the UK invading Syria is extremely unlikely at the moment?

Although this doesnt look like anything to do with organised militant anti fascism, i dont think this will stop the state/searchlight/ its grasses trolling around to try to criminalise antifascists by linking these loons to them.

Check out the parliamentary debate on the Terrorism Act 2006 (I linked to a shorter summary of the problem a couple of posts up). For the first time in history the Whips had to stand inside the chamber and physically herd MPs through the No door to prevent it being amended in line with European Law (lost by 2 votes; skip to the end of the debate for the fury from MPs).

Thanks to our spineless parliament, it's now the Home Secretary that makes the decision as to whether your support for, say, the Burmese monks getting tooled up to fight the Junta, is to be prosecuted or not. Anyone with the Anarchist's cookbook could be prosecuted if the Home Secretary feels like it. This case is horrific.

Liberty are on it, but they don't seem terribly effective these days. :(

the bnp guys plans and equipment seemed much further developed and more immenent then the attention seeking kaffa placards wavers, and the barot case....

how did they find this anti-bnp kid?

Stupid question but how come (and for how much longer?) Amazon still sells it?

and Ebay?

yes, i had a copy when i was a kid but to be honest i wouldnt give a fuck if the govt wanted to ban it, for the danger some of the 'recipes' pose to those preparing them alone (think a few provos blew themselves up trying to make explosives from the @ cookbook or something) let alone what could happen if a nutter got hold of a copy.

ut Mr Wright told the trial that Patel could be linked to another alleged Islamist via mobile phone calls and text messages, a relationship which added weight to the prosecution case.

Patel's contact got in touch within hours of arriving in the UK on a false passport, the trial heard.

so slightly more iffy than just owning a dodgy book
dodgy friends as well :(

Well, a long long time ago there was this thing called 'freedom of speech' whereby people were allowed to read and write and publish whatever the fuck they liked without the man throwing them in jail. Perhaps its some kind of throwback to that...
