)my anecdotal xperience is:
jack Russells have bitten me the most, followed by westies.
worst bite was from a lab
most aggressive dog I have worked with was a golden retriever
dog i have least fear of working with - rottie (mainly cos they give clear signals and i know them)
dog i least like working with - akitas - I cant read them
most destructive breed (house wrecking) - labs
most loonspud breed - border collie\working sheepdog, closely followed by springer spaniels
dog o would most trust around kids - staffies and boxers
Finally thinking of getting a dog and leaning towards collie crossed with a lab or something.
Dog in OP looks sooooo sweet though![]()
), but don't go on looks alone.but don't go on looks alone.
. I heard the Lab fact on Radio 4 a while ago (I think on You and Yours but not 100% sure). I was incredulous too, but then I thought maybe it's because they are the most popular breed and are thought of as 'safe' so people don't take the same precautions as they would with a dog with a 'bad' reputation. Or maybe because they are a recognisable breed.
Ooh shedsy! A dog! How exciting - do you need someone to go dog shopping with?!![]()

Labs are often overbred, especially the new-fangled chocolate variety. My dad kept several Labs as gundogs.
I think the ideal would be a Border Collie / Lab mix.
Well mixes can get problematic genes just like any other creature on the earth, but the gene pool will be bigger than with pedigrees. Border Collies get wall eyes, but it doesn't affect their sight, just different colours, that's all. Don't really know bearded collies.
) and my grandparents had one. The only eye problem I remember is cataracts but I have no idea if that was related to it's breed.
They are unbelievable on the food theft front.
