what's b)?a) I never said that - people like Alan Johnson and Hazel Blears come from working class backgrounds but I wouldn't trust them with an infinitely long barge pole. And, yes, no way meaningful change can come exclusively from Parliament. The question is whether - given the way elections are generally seen as some yardstick of political opinion - that pro-working class forces would benefit from abstaining altogether from seriously trying to contest these positions in some form or other.
