La vie Parisienne? Books and films set in Paris...

Liquidate Paris by Sven Hassel. Maybe it's not what quite you're looking for but it does contain indispensible pig smuggling tips.

since everyone has already mentioned the movies I wanted to, I'll nominate Rennaisance.

Monochrome animated movie set in a futuristic Paris.

"L'assamoire" - by Zola

Life in the working class area around the Gare du Nord in the 19thC - rags to moderate riches to rags as a result of absinthe and sloth.

Wonderful ! :)

Rendezvous
Claude Lelouch

A quick tour of Paris in a Ferrari - about 9+ minutes, its on YouTube.
Stunning:D

Most of the obvious ones have already been mentioned. If you've never seen Diva, definitely that, and Ridicule is a brilliant film that might make you want to take a trip out to Versailles.

For books, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame and The Three Musketeers. :D

M. Orwell and his very famous 'down and out in the city wot you said and Lodnod'

One of my favourites. Makes destitute living in Paris strangely appealing. I want to find one of those drinking dens with Russian people threatening to shoot each other, or similar.

I agree. It tempted the more foolish sides of me to become a Parisian tramp, drinking wine and eating bread at every meal like a true plongeur.

If we're talking books, then I'll put forward Phantom of the Opera.

Films:
Before sunset - sequel to Before Sunrise.
Irreversible

not Paris but France generally:
Three Colours Trilogy
The page turner
Delicatessen

Les Amants du Pont Neuf - beautiful almost love story with Juliette Binoche and Denis Lavant about homeless people living on a bridge.
