Pip I'm finding your intense knowledge of La Roux impressive yet suspicious. :hmm:

You've done well though, her songs were just one of my guilty pleasures before.

Now I want her dead.:)

NO!

There's enough people moaning about the third world debt, sweatshops blah blah BLAH. BORING!

I like that you've gone for a niche hate campaign.

I also like doing that bit of In For The Kill that goes 'aaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaa oooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooo'

Apparently my version really annoys people.

Can't think why.

Roux ain't got the tunes. Personally I prefer Boots but am fully aware that that may well be terribly terribly wrong.

Look, I'm just gonna say it, I think that Skreamy remix takes too long to get going, there I said it.

but when it does, it kicks, but not for very long though, the louis Philippe DnB Mix is an improvement.

I'll stick my neck out and say I like La Roux, music is a bit of an 80s throwback but so was Goldfrapp. The lead singer's voice is a bit shrill at times, but at least they are offering up something slightly different to todays impressionable yoot. As for her opinions, well who cares what pop stars think and say anyway, does anyone really care? are your lives that empty?

I also like her hair.

The thing that gets me though, is she's from around Brixton way, most local acts who do well get reasonable support from the local community, so are you londoners too complex and cynical for all that then?

<...>

I want recognition for my earlier comments!

She's shit and the Skream remix of her tune isn't any good, only the last 30s where it breaks are worth anything.
edit: of course, the mashup I did of it vs Boxcutter's Mya Rave is a work of genius.

I think the Skream remix is absolutely cracking.... I've not heard anything else she's done and I imagine that is the way things will stay.

she played an acoustic set in a warehouse i lived in a couple of years ago, she was fucking excellent and a total sweetie. she wasn't 'famous' at all though, she had fairly normal hair too. not crap.

Dunno why - I can seee that I would normally think "shit" - but I think "not shit and actually pretty good". I feel like someone's dad.

Not content slagging R&B off, now she's started on women http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/2009/jul/01/la-roux-women-beaten-up

Idiot.

"She wasn't challenged over her comments in the interview, which might have given her a chance to explain her position. But it is still depressing that the one pop star who "looks a bit different" is calling women she doesn't like the look of "twats". Clearly, Jackson could do with an education in the basics of feminism."

damn right. way to go new girl.

i'm that rad i've gone for UTTER CRAP just based on what i've read today. :D

i haven't actually heard her music (ahem)

What did you read? I read an interview with her where she seemed like quite a nice person. I know there's a dude too but fuck that guy.

Anyway, that bulletproof song is on the radio right now. I dunno why but I really like her - Elly Jackson's ? - voice.

I think I fancy her. That's probably it, actually. She's got balls. She's the sassiest sassy hot prick to come along since Ting Tings woman, who's name I never did find out. Definitely not Stacey or Jolisa.

oh i was only commenting on her yawn enducing, boringly predictable (ie, i'm so alternative and different to all those other silly girls out there showing their bodies), and irritating opinions about women, and R&B.

that's all. i'll make sure i check out her sound at some point when i can be arsed.

I got my BBC Glasto coverage mixed up . . . before this thread I thought this La Roux bird was Black, from Brixton, mentioning the place in her song, and had red hair - like her on the BBC studio stage. But it turns out La Roux is white, from miles away - well 1 mile, anyway - and I'm thinking of another local girl who was also on the BBC studio stage . . .

Who was the black girl with red hair then?

she did a fucking mint stripped down version of bulletproof at glastonbury for the bbc acoustic thing. she's got a pretty amazing voice
