La Liga 2008/09

Well it's the usual disconnect between UEFA and FIFA and what bans are appropriate. Shame for LFC fans I'll admit but the message it sends out is more important. If it's 200 miles there's not a huge range of possibilities, certainly not in terms of capacity for Atleti and LFC fans:

Getafe (Madrid outskirts..so maybe too close): Capacity 17,000
Real Zaragoza - La Romerda, cap 35,000
Valencia - Mestella cap 55,000 - but also in the CL league so tricky.
Valladolid - Jose Zorilla, cap 26,500.

Valencia aren't in the CL though?

Real Madrid, Athletico Madrid, Barcelona and Villareal no?

Yep..an error, for some reason their website had them playing on the same night despite them being in the UEFA cup!

I dunno...so long as Villa doesn't get injured and Joaquin plays like he can they could end up challenging for the league!

LOL in the last minute of the 6 added on real madrid get a penalty, wtf.

2-1 it is, bastards.

Utterly insane football throughout. Two sendings off, some abysmal refereeing (two blatantly onside goals ruled offside), six minutes of injury time that ends with one of the most imbecilic challenges in the penalty area ever.

More please!

:D

It was a very good game all the way through, real madrid should've had a goal earlier that was disallowed wrongly, so maybe it was the right result, though Atletico deserved the draw i thought.

Good game that :D Well done the Atleti fans who had the "RIP Jorg Haider" banner

Valencia looked ominously good - admittedly against Numancia - but they're in form and Villa is playing so well. Villarreal drew with Espanyol meaning Sevilla leapfrogged them with a 1-0 win over Almeria who are still in sixth!

We rested Xavi and Messi but managed to win at San Mames against Bilbao....lovely goal by Eto'o who's attitude this season is much better. Could that all be down to Ronny leaving? Betis finally get off the bottom by beating Mallorca 3-0.

Valencia 19 +13
Sevilla 17 +9
Villarreal 17 +6
Barcelona 16 +12
Real Madrid 16 +10
Almeria 11 +1
Malaga 10 -1
Atletico Madrid 9 +1
Getafe 9 --
Espanyol 9 -1
Deportivo La Coruna 9 -1
Mallorca 8 -5
Valladolid 7 -2
Racing Santander 6 -4
Sporting Gijon 6 -11
Real Betis 5 -1
Athletic Bilbao 5 -6
Recreativo 5 -9
Osasuna 4 -3
Numancia 4 -8

We gave up second half and it turned into a exhibition match but jesus that first half was magical...admittedly against Almeria but they were sixth in the table going into that match!!

So 10 goals in two games....looks like Pep has found his feet pretty well. We still have some serious defensive issues but with Milito coming back and the reamaining guys looking stronger by the match it's looking good.

What a weekend :):) and I am delighted WE are coming back! Right, g_force?

What a weekend of games....just stunning stuff :D Liked Simao's goal - that was hit with real venom. Surprised by Sevilla losing to Malga though, particularly at the Pizjuan.

Not sure we can count the last two games as "coming back" - Basel and Almeria are hardly great opposition but taking into account 9 games unbeaten i'd say we were moving in the right direction. Still need another keeper. Iniesta has been outstanding so far though.
