Bit of a trek from Aragón though...
Donna Ferentes said:That leaves Real Zaragoza, who on the face of it are ideal - not far away, strong club but not a huge corporate affair, supporters who support their local team. Unfortunately, the week I came to Spain was the very same week that Eto'o was forced to leave the pitch (or try to) by racist chanting at LA Romereda, which isn't the sort of start you really want.

Villarreal....everyone has a soft spot for the yellow submarines.
Of course, and I wouldn't suggest for a moment that all Zaragoza fans are racist, and if I were an established fan I'd feel differently about it. But when it's your introduction (Nayim, all those years ago, apart) to a club it feels very different.mrkikiet said:They aren't all racist by any stretch of the imagination. If you read the Zaragoza message boards they are pretty aware of what is going on and there is a realisation that it needs to stop. Certainly the Penyas seem to be trying to do something about it. I think that it is changing and that things will improve slowly.
Plus, the football at Zaragoza this season has the potential to be pretty exciting.
and also villareal, zaragoza and atleti.g force said:Is it really all because a promised - and worthwhile - pay rise never materialised? Real, Barca and Valencia will all be very happy about the unsettling so near to the season.
g force said:No idea....but Real buying everyone right now? Heinze, Robben, Sneijder, Drenthe...possibly Alves.
Zaragoza went to El Pilar to ask for her blessing last wednesday.Donna Ferentes said:I was walking down Calle San Lorenzo in Huesca today and there was a big crowd outside the church, TV van, photographers, lots of men in white t-shirts. It obviously wasn't a wedding and when I got closer it was, in fact, the squad of SD Huesca, just come out of what I assume was the annual pre-season blessing or similar nonsense...

You'll be lucky. Unlikely I'll see very much of it.Concrete Meadow said:Donna Ferentes, hope you can give us some match reports.
Don't know, I'm not in Spain any moreDonna Ferentes said:La Sexta have a game tonight, don't they? Is that a temporary arrangement?

I suspect la sexta should have football every week, you don't know what the live game is do you? Is it sevilla or Zaragoza?
