Knocked Up

I saw a few clips posted up with "ZOMFG!11!!! this is so halareos!" and the like as descriptors.

They weren't.

I read/heard good stuff about it too, but from what I have seen, it ain't for me.

it's the dude from 40 year old virgin (not the main character)

he's a canadian dopehead, and if you enjoy getting high and watching absurd trashy american comedy, then you might enjoy him.

he made me laff loads when describing watching 'Ghandi' whilst stoned

I guessed as much...

Suppose there are some people who really like this type of thing. Just was puzzled but the exuberance that the critics where using in their reviews.

The Sun told me that it's the best direction since Kurosawa and Kubrick teamed up to film Stupid American Comedy Wankathon 4: The One Where They Make The Guy Fuck His Mum By Accident And Throws Up On Her.

"Unmitigated genius" - Roland Pimprat, The Sun
"Infinitesimally brilliant" - Algernon Throgswaite, The Mirror
"A philosophical Masterpiece" - Getcher Teetsout, Sunday Sport
"Best film of the entire human epoch" - Fringewaffle Sprunglelbow, News of the World

Went to see it with hendo yesterday and thought it was great. Very funny. Hendo loved it as well - so not just a chick-flick. :)

See my thread the other day, thought it was absolutely superb and worthy of the seemingly OTT reviews.

That mushroom scene was just perfect.

Even the Evening Standard gave it a good review and four out of five starts and they are very hard to please when it comes to films like this.

I thought it was decent and it made me laugh, but I agree that the fawning 4 star reviews are way overboard.

It's not bad IMHO - tyhought I'd hate it, but there's quite a sharp script, some good performances and about the right length. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.
