Kinda Punky Folky Crusty Bands We Have Loved..

I just this week bought her book.. Billie something or other it's called... I think I'm having an early mid-life crisis.... memories of the poetry tent in Glastonbury and more innocent, less cynical days.... haven't actually opened it up though...

I read that a while ago. Capsule review: first half is great, second half is ruined by sudden inexplicable heavy-handedness with the portrayal of class. My copy went straight to the charity shop when finished.

Last time I saw either bands ( maybe on the same bill) was at Chats Palace in hackney. Very good night!

My mate saw the Baghdaddies the week before last I think. He said they were excellent but the crowd were shite.

i was just wondering what the line up of the army is these days, have gone on their site, and found out that rob heaton died in 2004. bummer. i loved his drumming :(

I went to see them last november - basically just justin and some newer recruits. still good though....impurity sounded wierd without the fiddle though.

I used to like Sultans of Ping... seem to remember some song about Jesus in a tracksuit, and another called Where's My Jumper... am off to google them now!

Not folky or crusty at all but are fucking cool. I saw them 3 times last year & am seeing them again at the Garage on the 18th March.

nah, Culture Shock were MUCH better[/QUOTE]

and subhumams even better!
been great that they have been playing again as subhumans saw them last year it was fantatic the opposite of dubs other thread - a band I thgought were of their time and who I would find difficult to listen to turned out to be fantastic and I amazed myself for knowing everyword to everysong even though I hadnt heard them for nearly 20 years. I thoght dik looked surprisingly exactly the same.

Is Dick in them? I think I might know them.

Citizen Fish = 3 members of Subhumans + Jasper

Subhumans = 3 members of Citizen Fish + Bruce

2 members of Citizen Fish were once in Culture Shock (Dick and Jasper)

Culture Shock contained One member of Subhumans + Bill, Nige and Paul (replaced by Jasper)

There yer go, simple innit. Clear as treacle.

(half inched from their site http://www.citizenfish.com

Jesus look at this for a bank holiday line up...do you laugh or cry...http://www.citizenfish.com/academy.htm my mate has started a photo project of taking pictures of dying breeds of youth cults from years gone by...there would be a bonanza here.

I too, in my time, have loved Headmix Collective, firm festival favourites, they had some great songs; 'Reclaim the Streets' being on of my favs ;) , always good for a mosh to at some crusty old festival.....Ahhh...memories.... :D

Yeah he lives next to a mate of mine.

And for music family trees, the headmix collective has ex-members from Tofu love frogs, Doo the Moog and Cheap Suit O' Roonies.

:D when I were a lad...

Round about the same time: whatever happened to Poisoned Electrik Head and Mad Halibut?

Hazy memories :)

Poisoned Electric Head are still going in some form or other are they not?

I was talking about PEH on another thread prior to this. They used to do my addled brain in at festies...in a good way though...wouldnt mind seeing if they are still any cop if they are still around. Might be a bit wierd seeing them not fucked up on hallucinogens though...(something I have long since given up).

Just found their website. Looks like they've not released anything since 96 and the latest news from 02.05.2001 says:

The current state of PEH is as follows. No gigs are on the horizon but Phil, Pee, Bill, Al and Billy are still in regular contact and continue to work on musical ideas though whether these will translate into a live concept is as yet unclear.
