killer b on the radio...

It looks an excellent project to be involved with. Good luck to everyone involved! :)

(Our nearest community station, in Stoke, is a bloody god-bothering channel called "Cross Rhythms" )

nope. the only thing they can go off at the moment is the internet streams, and i've not asked what they're like.

it will be pretty small though - but the point of community radio is as much for the participants as the listeners.

i think some of the shows have been remarkably high quality - check out phil roman's show (think it's tuesday evenings) - he should be on radio 2...

<edit - at BA>

Because they're not in RAJAR like Rock FM et al, the listening figures don't get published at all - all a station can go on is its own surveys or just counting the phone-calls that come in!

But I firmly believe it's the future of radio. If you want to listen to "another hour of non-stop hits on Yet Another FM" in this day and age, you might as well put your iPod on. Community stations are offering something different - the people of the area are choosing what to broadcast, rather than Emap HQ in London. It's not as polished or slick, but give me something individual and unique over a bland playlist any day!

(but this is off topic :o)

cool. tis nice to know people are listening - last time i did an RSL we were broadcasting FM only, and no bugger ever called in...

appols for slipping up just then - the song before going back to my roots was 'hallelujah, i'm coming home', by candido. not 'some other song'... :o :D

:o
for the next 3 weeks, then hopefully again in march next year for a month - we'll be applying for a permanent licence next year sometime.

i think there is plans for the internet broadcasts to go out full time, but i'm unsure whether there'll be a break after this month (the paid staff could probably do with a break...)

Everybody clapping along here :D

that's it from me, till next week. dunno what's next up, but it says on the planner that it's 'dave', playing 'general music'.

he has long greasy hair & a leather jacket, so i'm unsure if the groovy vibe is going to be maintained...

Respect dude, made my sunday afternoon.
Top tunes all round my only regret was my late arrival. :(

The boy did good  :D

ah yes. do i hear the smashing pumpkins?

<edit - cheers frieda - more of the same next sunday if you fancy it? think i might script it a bit next time too - i messed up a few too many times>

i expect i'll be reading the news every day at 5.45 too, though you can't dance to that...
