Deeply depressing tbh...
Yes. :( I'm glad no-one told me this before I watched it (although I would have given it a wide berth if they had - it ruined my Sunday evening to be quite honest.). I really wanted Sam to die at the end because of what he'd done to people. I wanted him to die so much that I was thinking "for fuck's sake please, just shoot him in his f**king face, please!!!". Then I realised that the gun was going to explode, because of what Trife's uncle had said earlier in the film: "If dem don't drill good, de bullet won't leave"... so the guy who was out for revenge ends up losing a couple of fingers, the BASTARD gets away with causing someone's suicide, and the good guy dies. FFS! :@

Maybe it's the name and I think it had comparisons with it, but it reminded me of Kids, the american 90s film, and that was deeply depressing too tbh in a different way, of a corrupted innocence.

A couple of spoilers but not important things

Saw this on the weekend – I came out thinking it had some very good bits and some very bad bits. Possibly for similar reasons to 5T3R3OTYP3 I found it easier to believe the female characters – certainly Jamie Winston’s character really reminded me of a couple of my close mates when I was 16 (hmmm, and I certainly identified with being left twiddling my thumbs waiting for a friend to finish shagging some total sleazebag :( ). And I think it was quite brave in the issues it tried to tackle, even if at times you felt it was trying to tackle too much.

However, I couldn’t shake the feeling that a lot of it was very one dimensional, both in character construction and plot. The only well rounded characters seemed to be the male and female lead. Also, for example the way they dealt with racism on Oxford Street - while it was something really important to be highlighted, I just thought the way they went about it was a bit obvious and stereotyped. Tbh though I’m not sure if any screenplay problems were helped by the fact that there were quite a few bad actors in it (and for that particular scene I’m actually thinking of the adults!). Plus the drugs scenes fucked me off – while in many ways I should be glad that the two girls had no idea how to act off their tits on cocaine you don’t take at least three or four lines in the afternoon and have no rough comedown stage later on, which is more of a screenplay problem.

However, I don’t regret seeing it and I think in regards to the writers I would file this under “promising”.

Watched this last night. Much better than I expected (certainly far far better than the unutterably lame "Bullet Boy"). Quite moving at the end and uncomfortable reminders at the beggining (for both me and my missus) of being bullied at school. However I agree with some of the criticisms of the one dimensionality of some characters and the drug taking was ridiculous - they did loads of charlie then wanted to eat pizza! Excuse me?

Overall, good though, worth seeing, but grim. Good soundtrack.

We've not seen this yet. It's lying around somewhere. Thanks for the spoilers warnings innit.

This film made me quite unsettled... i was quite affected by all the violence in it. Reminded me of Larry Clark's stuff a bit like 'Kids' and 'Bully'.

Im now intrigued by the positve posts from 5T3 among others.Ive seen Bullet Boy which I liked.Ive seen Kidulthood out on DVD so ill get it.The trouble is a lot of British films get a very very limited release. In London it was basically on at the Odeon Panton st the smallest cinema in the West End.:(

I thought it was brilliant. Very realistic, good plot. Totally grim though - I could hardly bear to watch it at certain points. God, that bit where he carves into that guy's face was just horrific.

I do want to see Adulthood now.

Aye but the point there was he wasn't worth it. And he wasn't.
